Misleading redirect[edit]

A problematic website with a similar name, Salem-News; Salem-News.com, is under discussion at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard, blacklisting is proposed. I am here because keying "Salem-News" into the Wikipedia search bar takes you to The Salem News, which could mislead readers.E.M.Gregory (talk) 09:48, 17 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • How do I make a search on: Salem-News in the Wikipedia search bar NOT direct readers to The Salem News?E.M.Gregory (talk) 01:23, 18 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
E.M.Gregory Where would you have them go? We don't have an article on the newspaper under discussion at RSN, correct? Best, |Barkeep49]] (talk) 01:31, 18 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
User:Barkeep49 We do not have such an article because it is a FRINGE website. I happened on it because it was used as a source on a page I was reading, and, because I had seen it used as a source previously, I took a closer look at the source. I began by looking to see if we had a page on it, and was directed to The Salem News. An unsophisticated reader might have stopped there, assuming that the odd article he was reading was published by a reputable newspaper. Do we have a protocol for advising readers searching Salem-News that there is a newspaper that we regard as an unreliable news source?E.M.Gregory (talk) 04:47, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
