Question

[edit]

The Staple Singer's song "Great Day" has been sung by a number of Baha'i artists. The lyrics are changed from "The Lord is getting us ready..." to "Baha'u'llah's getting us ready...". Does anyone know if the Staple family are Baha'is? Jlavezzo 18:14, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Name of group

[edit]

Why are they called "The Staple Singers" if their surname is "Staples"? Badagnani 23:37, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good question, but it's possible that you have it backwards. Should the real question be, "Since 'The Staple Singers' shows you how their surname was originally spelled, why have the individual members of the family changed the spelling of that name in their own individual cases, over time?" 130.74.118.30 (talk) 16:59, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Are you saying that they all dropped the letter 's' from their last name? The main article could be improved by saying so explicitly, rather than just inferring it. 216.99.201.252 (talk) 00:04, 6 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The article says: "While the family surname is "Staples", the group used the singular form for its name, 'The Staple Singers.'" There is no singular form of a family name. They are not the plural of something shot from a staple gun. 04:12, 23 February 2017 (UTC)

Incomplete discography

[edit]

I came here in search of the year on their Christmas album, and was surprised that the discography is incomplete. Is there someone who cares more than me who can compile a fuller one? Frank Lynch (talk) 22:58, 16 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
