Katya's recovery[edit]

I didn't include it in the article since I wasn't sure if the reasons for McCook's hiatus were germane. Yes, there are reliable sources, but it also is pretty personal. I figured it's be safer to not include -- especially in the lede -- due to WP:BLP concerns. Although as of now it's discussed in the page for Katya Zamolodchikova so I might be being too cautious. I'm not sure introducing his name is necessary, but maybe, "while Katya is on hiatus from entertaining", or similar? I've not read other articles about Katya's struggles or planned break, but this wording seems in line with the current inline citation. ---Another Believer _(Talk) 02:02, 24 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I mean, it just seems a bit awkward to conflate the man and the character, especially since like, McCook's statement on the hiatus literally begins "Hi, my name is not Katya. I am Brian". The character *Katya* isn't "a recovering drug addict and workaholic [who] need[s] to take some personal time for [his] mental health to heal and recover" (quoting the statement); that applies to the actual person, Brian.

Also their "boy names" might be worth mentioning in any event since they also do appear out of drag as Brian(s) in one of the show's reoccurring segments. Umimmak (talk) 03:12, 24 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Also also, I just checked an episode and the hosts' names appear as "Brian Firkus" and "Brian McCook" in the credits, which also makes me think their actual names should be mentioned, if at least only in passing, somewhere. Umimmak (talk) 04:24, 24 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I think the lede is fine as is. Brian's hiatus is explained well, in context, at the Katya Zamolodchikova article, at a point where his out-of-drag name is already clear. Insofar as Bob is concerned, the only critically important info is that which is already mentioned here. If people are curious about the reason for Katya's absence, I imagine most would naturally click to her personal article anyway.

As for their boy names, I agree that they'd be good to include in this article, just for generally informative purposes. Armadillopteryx^talk 14:31, 24 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
