Can Someone Please Update this Article?

[edit]

This article is badly in need of update - it stops at October 21, 2011 when he joined the Chicago Cubs operation, and has nothing about his activities with the Cubs since then. Nor does it have any mention of the recent stalking case Epstein has been deeling with (ref: http://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/Theo-Epstein-Stalker-Pleads-Guilty-Gets-24-Months-of-Probation-285874811.html). Untitled

[edit]

removed: "In the ALCS, trailing three games to none against their rivals the New York Yankees, the Red Sox executed the greatest comeback in baseball history by winning four games in a row to send themselves to the World Series"

replaced with: "In the ALCS, trailing three games to none against their rivals the New York Yankees, the Red Sox won four games in a row to send themselves to the World Series. It was the first time in MLB playoff history that a team had rallied from a 3-0 series deficit to win a series."

Change was made to conform to NPOV.

This article does not appear to conform to NPOV. It appears to be written by someone who is clearly a Red Sox fan.

Nov. 4, 2007: It seems quite unlikely, if not impossible, that Theo Epstein worked 70-hour weeks for the Padres while studying full time at an ABA-accredited law school. That's because the ABA prohibits law students from working more than 20 hours per week while attending law school full time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.99.63.173 (talk) 20:50, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Epstein's first name is only Theo, not Theodore. Link here: http://www.yaledailynews.com/articles/view/6286?badlink=1

Trivia and Red Sox Fandom

[edit]

There is no need for trivia in an encyclopedia entry. If it's trivial it should be gone. If it's pertinent to the article then incorporate it. As a Red Sox fan I will say that article is non-NPOV and that needs to be rectified. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Busterdawg (talkcontribs) 18:58:30, August 19, 2007 (UTC).

I believe the table 'Major League Baseball General Managers' is not showing John Schuerholz for Atlanta and Larry Beinfest for Florida. Instead is showing the managers Bobby Cox and Fredi Gonzalez. Baseball Managers are different than baseball General Managers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.32.89.125 (talk) 04:41, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Any confirmation about Epstein passing California Bar?

[edit]

Theo Epstein is not, and has never been, a member of the California Bar. It seems odd that he would take, and pass, the exam and never swear in. Is it actually true that he has passed the exam? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.109.233.239 (talk) 05:41, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There's nothing in the article as it stands that asserts that he took the bar exam in California (or anywhere else, for that matter). It's not all that unusual for someone who does not intend to practice to get a law degree and then not take a bar exam. It's even less unusual to get a law degree in one US jurisdiction and then take the exam in one or more other jurisdictions instead. I, for example, received my law degree at Georgetown, in D.C., took bar exams and was admitted in two states, but never took the D.C. bar exam. So, I have to wonder, what is the point of noting that he has never been admitted in California? Perhaps someone should check with Massachusetts. 141.149.34.158 (talk) 14:06, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Addendum to preceding comment: OK, I've now found the version that asserts that he passed the California bar exam but was not admitted. That is somewhat unusual. I would expect someone who passed the exam to apply for admission. If the former assertion that he passed the exam is correct, one wonders why he did not apply (if that is the case) or why his application was denied (if that is what happened). If there was an application that was denied, that would be most interesting. 141.149.34.158 (talk) 14:42, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Name

[edit]

Can we please get definitive confirmation on what this guy's full name is? First it was mistakenly listed as Theodore instead of Theo, which is definitely incorrect. Now I see that his middle name has suddenly become Nathaniel when I'm almost 100% positive it's Nathan. Leslie Epstein said as much in the Boston Globe and I have to assume that he knows his own son's name. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.163.65.10 (talk) 07:28, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Listed as Theo Nathan Epstein on his own charity website: http://www.foundationtobenamedlater.org/founders.html Confirmed by father in last paragraph of this article: http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2007/02/01/epsteins_father_admits_joking_about_wedding_site/

It's Nathan. Please stop changing it back to Nathaniel. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.163.76.93 (talk) 05:57, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Zionist?

[edit]

His religious/political views don't seem to be discussed, but he is listed as a Zionist. Is this correct? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.88.124.86 (talk) 19:46, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Theo discusses his beliefs on Zionism in the book Zionists.

Cubs

[edit]

The deal with the Cubs is not complete, and has not been officially confirmed by anyone, even the reference the title of the article says 'on the brink'

please revert this and I am placing a request for a page protection until the situation is officially resolved. --Boston Burkenation (talk) 13:31, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Now that the page is protected and nobody can fix it. It still says that Theo has taken a job with the Cubs, something that is NOT YET true. Ron Newman (talk) 00:41, 14 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

He may have signed with the Chicago Cubs but he is still under contract with the Boston Red Sox and they have not yet released him from this contract. They must agree before he can officially be said to be a part of the Chicago organization and they have not done this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.240.239.38 (talk) 02:31, 14 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hot Stove

[edit]

"Hot Stove Cool Music is a biannual charity concert and musical variety show held in Boston in the winter and in Chicago in the summer months, making its debut in Chicago in summer 2012. " per cited source. Collect (talk) 14:15, 22 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the fix. It's good to know you are following me around, fixing everything I do wrong. Buster Seven Talk 14:28, 22 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Article used both words - but the event is biannual. Though I wonder why your comment above might sound an eensy bot snarky at this point. Collect (talk) 15:02, 22 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Oh no, not at all snarky. As in your edit summary: Charity: when using a source - read it through - "biannual" is right there) is not snarky at all but helpful to the rest of us that need instructions regarding how to do our work here properly. It would never do to say that in Chicago the event is annual, even though it is. Gandydancer (talk) 23:20, 22 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox

General Managers get rings so shouldn't his Infobox reflect the championships he won?--MattyMetalFan (talk) 21:33, 13 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
