Bill Bowes' 16-35[edit]

Surprisingly (to me) this performance, made up of 8-18 and 8-17, doesn't seem to have set any major records beyond this ground one. It's not the best match bowling for Yorkshire (that was Hedley Verity's 17-91 v Essex in 1933[1]) and it's not the best against Northants (both Charlie Blythe[2] and Frank Matthews[3] have taken 17). Bowes did concede fewer runs in a sixteen-or-more-wicket haul than anyone else (whose full figures are known) in first-class cricket[4] but I think that's a bit convoluted for the article!
