Trevor Bauer is an american non professional drone flyer who cut his finger trying to fly one

This article is a joke. "Professional drone flyer" and also a baseball player? Why not discuss the drone/finger incident somewhere in the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Callmestarbucks (talk • contribs) 22:54, 30 October 2016 (UTC)

[edit]Is having text about Bauer's preferences to discussing political issues and believing in conspiracy theories keeps the article neutral? I think it falls under WP:UNDUE. FunksBrother (talk) 18:13, 17 October 2018 (UTC)

References
[edit]- Should there be a date for refs 110 & 111?
- Done Can you tell these are the two refs I didn't add myself? — GhostRiver 12:52, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
Lead
[edit]- ”with pitching, and would often practice” – “with pitching, often practicing”
- ”junior year with a” – “junior year in which he posted a”
- ”but followed this effort” – “but he followed this effort”
- ” Bauer became a free agent after the 2020 season, and chose to sign a three-year contract with the Dodgers that February” – “A free agent after the 2020 season, Bauer signed a three-year contract with the Dodgers in February 2021.”
- ” He led the league in both strikeouts and innings pitched by July 2, when MLB placed Bauer on administrative leave while they investigated assault allegations made against him” – Update to “He led the league in both strikeouts and innings pitched through July 2 but spent the rest of the season on administrative leave imposed by MLB as they investigated assault allegations made against him”
Early life
[edit]- ”Clarita, and spent” – “Clarita, and he spent”
- Did he graduate early because he didn’t mesh with his teammates? Or did he graduate early because he wanted to start his college career early, and he also happened to not mesh with his teammates?
- Per the source:
"It was enough to make me decide not to play my senior year, regardless of if I had a chance to go to college or not," Bauer said Monday. "So, I'll leave it there."
I changed to "in part because" — GhostRiver 12:52, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
- Per the source:
College career
[edit]- ” a 2.99 ERA, 105+1⁄3 innings pitched, and was named” – “a 2.99 ERA, and 105+1⁄3 innings pitched, also getting named”
- ”combined again in 2010” – I’d take out again, since not much is mentioned of their 2009 performance other than that they were teammates.
- ” to an unbroken 10–0 record at the start of the season, the best record since the school” - to a 10–0 start, the best record to begin the season since the school”
- ”built to a” – “built a”
- What day was the Gallego error?
- ”over Arizona” – I’d say Arizona Wildcats or the University of Arizona, since it’s not the same Arizona he pitched for later on.
- ” bringing his total record to 28–7” – “gaining a 28—7 record” – more parallel with usurping.
- Hmmm…who’s that guy who won the Golden Spikes Award in 2008? (Sorry, just had to mention it!)
- I was going to make a snide comment about 2010, but at least we can agree on '98! — GhostRiver 13:14, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
Minor leagues
[edit]- I forget—did anyone seem to think Bauer might go first, or was the consensus that Cole would be the first prospect taken?
- Cole was pretty much universally projected to go first because he had been so consistently strong, whereas Bauer didn't really hop onto the radar until his junior year; added a sentence & ref from ESPN about that — GhostRiver 12:52, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
- ”on July 25, and was” – No comma needed
- ”August 16, 2011” – don’t need the year, since already mentioned.
- ”spring training, and went” – No comma needed.
- ”rotation, and was assigned” – “rotation, and he was assigned”
- ”but was unavailable” – “but he was unavailable”
- Skaggs—are you familiar with him at all? (haha)
- What, no! Who's that guy? Should I have heard of him? ;) (Actually, I'm pretty sure that I found that source while doing research on Bauer and had to add it back into the Skaggs article, because I didn't know who he had been replacing at the Futures Game!) — GhostRiver 12:52, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
Arizona Diamondbacks
[edit]- This section looks good!
Cleveland Indians
[edit]- Kind of a long section, might want to divide by seasons. (How many per section is up to you.)
- Done Yeah, I agree — GhostRiver 13:14, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
- I’d have more on 2014—did he start the season in the minors? When and why was he called up?
- Added I think I worked on this section the one day that the "expand bio" wasn't working, and I just kind of had to freewheel it — GhostRiver 13:14, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
- ”scoring a leadoff” – “recording a leadoff”
- I’d take out the part about the fielder’s choice—the point is he got his first hit.
- How long was the losing streak?
- ” broken his thumb, but served as Bauer's regular catcher from there, with Bauer” – “broken his thumb. He became Bauer’s regular catcher from then on, with Bauer”
- ”Blue Jays, but suffered” – “Blue Jays, but he suffered”
- ”dropping both games” – I’d put losing, just to be a little clearer.
- ” who managed to turn around the first half of the season for a 10–1 record and 2.60 ERA in his last 14 starts” – “who turned his season around by posting a 10–1 record and 2.60 ERA in his last 14 starts”
- ”32 games, and struck out” – “32 games, and he struck out”
- ”three on Yankees” – “three of Yankees”
- ”that he pitched” – “that he had pitched”
- Glad you had the info about the new slider. It’s stuff like this that makes these articles really informative, as they help explain a player’s sudden improvement.
- Thank you! One thing I've been trying to do in these articles is add a little more meat beyond the stats — GhostRiver 13:18, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
- ”meant to start in the” – “meant to begin the”
- ”His push” – “Bauer’s push” – and then change Bauer to he later in sentence.
- Switch he and Bauer around in the September 22 sentence.
- Not a change for the article, but I never really understood why people got so upset at Bauer for throwing the ball over the centerfield fence at the stadium. Better to do that than throw it full power at a nearby fence and risk injuring someone.
- Yeah, I mean, it is a little immature, but – I love Cliff Lee as much as anyone, and I think people forget all the temper tantrums that he used to throw. Most of those involved beanballing someone! — GhostRiver 13:18, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
Cincinnati Reds
[edit]- ”Bauer stumbled in” – “Bauer struggled in”
- I’d take out the Barnhart sentence. Probably a little too in-depth to devote that much coverage to him struggling in one start.
- Partly done I added a sentence in the pitching section about catchers having to adapt to his style of game, since that was also a point of contention when he was with Arizona — GhostRiver 12:52, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
- ”was tapped to” – “was selected to”
- ”battling 72/3” – “pitching 72/3”
- ”but remained open to” – “but he said he remained open to”
Los Angeles Dodgers
[edit]- This section looks good!
Pitching style and criticism
[edit]- There’s a few different places in the article where criticism is mentioned or alleged. I think, for clarity, I would call the section “Pitching style” and create a subsection for the last paragraph, titled “Pitch doctoring controversy”
- ”has been known for” – “has garnered attention over”
Business ventures
[edit]- This section looks good!
Charitable campaigns
[edit]- This section looks good!
Political beliefs and social media
[edit]- I remember reading that he supported Mitt Romney in 2012; might be good to mention that as well.
- Done Took some digging, but there was an article about, you guessed it, a Twitter thread he went on about the 2012 election! — GhostRiver 12:52, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
--- "purporting" is a grammatical error. "a purported" is closer to what is meant. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.93.241.135 (talk) 18:21, 1 May 2022 (UTC)
Assault allegations
[edit]- ”in 2017, and that”
- I assume you meant to ask me to take out the comma? If so, Done — GhostRiver 12:52, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
Great news; you don’t have to wait nine days for a review this time! Biggest change I found was that 2014 could use expansion; the rest seems like minor stuff. Let me know when you’re done, and I’ll give this another look! Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 03:36, 13 September 2021 (UTC)

- Comment: For the years in the infobox, traditionally we only list the years during which the player made a regular season appearance for the team, not just when he was under contract. Technically, the infobox should not include 2023 (season hasn't started yet) nor 2022 (he was put on leave before making an appearance that year).
- But that's all premature. While all parties say he will not return, he is still technically a Dodger right now, he is designated for assignment only. LA has seven days to do something - waive then release, or trade, or restore him to the roster. While release is most likely, per WP:CRYSTAL he still is a Dodger property until then, so there really isn't a change to be made at this time. Echoedmyron (talk) 11:59, 7 January 2023 (UTC)

- her identity is irrelevant to this article, she is not a notable person.. and nothing of the sort has been "proven". Spanneraol (talk) 23:27, 2 October 2023 (UTC)

WP:UNDUE possibly on assault allegations?
[edit]Given that the allegations have been resolved, perhaps the section could be shortened and summarized as it dominates a pretty big portion of the article. Ergzay (talk) 15:01, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
- Agree that it can be reduced... we don't need a play by play of the entire legal proceedings. It's still rather important in that it basically ended his MLB career though. Spanneraol (talk) 15:53, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
- I agree with Spanneraol. The way the assault allegations played out directly led to the Dodgers releasing him and indirectly led to his signing in Japan, but a blow-by-blow is excessive. I can work on it sometime this week, most likely. — GhostRiver 16:24, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
- I agree as well. Even if he returns to MLB, these allegations resulted in his suspension and release. A trim now that we're past the WP:BREAKING phase is warranted. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:31, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
- I've cut the section down to 3 paragraphs: one on the allegation that led to his dismissal from LAD, one on the subsequent allegations, and a third on his lawsuits against Deadspin and The Athletic. Further alterations more than welcome. — GhostRiver 00:14, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
- Looks good.. additionally, I think the sections on the pitch doctoring controversy (which was just speculation and not actual proof) and especially the political nonsense can also be much shorter. Spanneraol (talk) 03:34, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
- Would you care to add the 4th accuser to the text?
