EP or album?

Quick question, is Tyla is a self-titled EP that is to be included in Tyla album? I am asking because coming to think of it, "On and On", "Truth or Dare", and "Butterflies" are not singles but they are songs. See some of the following sources I stumbled upon: [1], [2], [3], [4]. dxneo (talk) 22:07, 15 December 2023 (UTC)

By defintion an EP and album, appear to be different, subjects. As per [5], furthermore only the Water, remix is included in the EP, not the original version of the song which presumably will be included in, the album. In my opinion, I think that the EP could possibly as an alternative be a stand-alone, article. Qaqaamba (talk) 03:41, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
Ss112, your take on this? dxneo (talk) 15:30, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
That just looks like one of those digital EPs that's cobbled together by labels for streaming services to collect all the songs in one place so that the artist gets more streams. That being said, I am really not a Tyla fan (I only created the article for "Water" because it was a popular charting song, I'm not interested in her broadly), so I don't know, but regardless of the existence of the EP, this article is for the full-length album that's coming out. Ss112 15:50, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
Ss112, I'm also not a fan, so would it inappropriate to create a standalone article for the EP? (There are multiple reliable sources on it). dxneo (talk) 15:58, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
If you think it's notable enough then that's up to you, but personally I don't see the point as its coverage is just going to be subsumed by the album and all five songs on the digital EP are included on the eventual album. (Btw, I have pings turned off, so tagging me doesn't mean I get anything.) As an aside, at this early stage it looks like Tyla may be going the way of other TikTok hits. One big hit but the public don't seem to care about the follow-ups (e.g. "Truth or Dare" and "On and On" haven't charted on anything but component or genre charts), and the album just ends up being a blip on the radar. By all means, I don't care if I'm proven wrong, but that's why I wouldn't be worried about starting an article for the EP. I don't even know why you bothered with "On and On" tbh. Ss112 16:09, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
Yes, it is a "genre charting" song but it was featured on a A COLORS SHOW and it made the news, even "Truth or Dare" can get a standalone article too. मल्ल, your take on this? dxneo (talk) 15:41, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
Sorry I'm not that familiar on notability requirements for songs or EPs. मल्ल (talk) 03:29, 27 December 2023 (UTC)

Hello Abcdehe, in addition to what I've addressed here, would you please state the reason to why you removed "(styled in all caps)" and mainly why you think "On and On", "Truth or Dare", and "Butterflies" are singles where as they are clearly labeled as songs on their articles (and infoboxes)? You started off with a nonsensical edit of removing cited content and said it was a mistake when it was addressed and threatened to take me to Ani. I'd hate for this to become an edit over something so simple. Until consensus is reached, please do not mark the songs are singles Thank you. dxneo (talk) 20:19, 24 January 2024 (UTC)

Thank you for your message. "Styled in all caps" was removed per MOS:TITLECAPS. And as I've already mentioned multiple times, "On and On", "Truth or Dare" and "Butterflies" were added as promotional singles by a different user prior to me editing the article. When my edits were made, I never removed the word promotional from the format, making your narrative of me thinking that those songs are singles false. Please view the page's history and find the user who added those songs as promotional singles, and chase them up on that instead.
Secondly, "removing cited content" is not what I was doing in my edit, if you are talking about my edits on Tyla (album). I removed one source by mistake and that was readded once I had realised my wrongdoing. But there was no content attached to that source which was removed, so no removal actually occured. Abcdehe (talk) 20:25, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
Abcdehe, great. To make this short, looking at the present state of the article, what grammatic errors are there to fix beside the all caps? dxneo (talk) 20:29, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
There are no errors at this time, as I've just undone your edit and switched it back to what it was before. Abcdehe (talk) 20:30, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
Like I said before, I hate engaging in edit wars, mentioning Tyla whereas the title of the article is Tyla in the lead is not right, that "It" was fine. ALSO that "currently scheduled...", that "currently" is not supposed to be there. Anyway, happy editing. dxneo (talk) 20:35, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
"Currently" actually is supposed to be there, because the date is not confirmed and could be changed with little notice. Anyway, happy editing. Abcdehe (talk) 20:37, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
The date is confirmed, check your Apple Music or any cited source. Anyway, thanks you the best. dxneo (talk) 20:39, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
Again, it could be changed with little notice. Anyway, thanks you the best. Abcdehe (talk) 20:39, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
And it was. Everybodyyy (talk) 19:50, 7 March 2024 (UTC)
No cap. dxneo (talk) 20:32, 7 March 2024 (UTC)

Tyla (album)

You reverted the edits I made to the Tula (album) article. Care to explain why you did this? If you don't have a valid reason, best believe I will undo your edit when I get to a computer.  Versace1608  Wanna Talk? 23:23, 7 March 2024 (UTC)

Hello Versace1608, please do tag/mention the user who rollbacked your edit(s) for a quicker response. dxneo (talk) 13:20, 8 March 2024 (UTC)
I apologize for confusing you with another editor. I thought you were the one who reverted my edit, and just realized that it was a different person.  Versace1608  Wanna Talk? 14:50, 8 March 2024 (UTC)

Record label(s)

As cited with reliable sources in the article, most sources and streaming platforms state that the album was released through Fax Records and Epic Records. However, the UK R&B Albums Chart number ones states that the labels are Since 93/RCA, and so does this aggregate score. Could it be that the album was released to some regions through RCA and some through Epic? Consensus would be helpful and will be used under the release history section. dxneo (talk) 16:02, 30 March 2024 (UTC)

@Dxneo: As per this article, she’s signed to Fax+Epic in the US and then Since93+RCA in the UK. cybertrip👽 ( 💬📝) 17:51, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
Thank you Cybertrip, is it safe to add the information under the release history? And would it be safe to also add it on her other songs? dxneo (talk) 22:35, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
@Dxneo: I honestly don’t think so. Fax/Epic is her main record deal as they represent her here in her home country as well as most other parts of the world. I think Since93/RCA can go in the infobox of Tyla (South African singer) though under the “Label” parameter. cybertrip👽 ( 💬📝) 09:03, 31 March 2024 (UTC)
Looking at Cardi B's Invasion of Privacy, it was released by Atlantic Records but distributed through Warner Music Japan in Japan, see the release history, I think the same should apply here as well. Cybertrip, thank you for helping me and pointing me in the right direction, I'm grateful. dxneo (talk) 15:18, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

Content and writing

Hello AlNahyan, I noticed you've recently been doing a great job by re-writing content on this article. However, few moments later Cybertrip would come to undo some of the edits and re-write the whole thing again (well at least most of it). I was thinking it would be best to discuss your contributions here before proceeding to removing (cited) content. Thank you. dxneo (talk) 01:43, 7 April 2024 (UTC)

Oh oops. Sorry for undoing your reversion (I didn't see the notification) I feel that a lot of Cybertrip's edits were overly journalistic in nature, which shouldn't really be happening on a Wikipedia article (imo.) But I'm open to hear other people's thoughts on this. AlNahyan (talk) 02:22, 7 April 2024 (UTC)

Should radio date or album date be used for Art?

The song went to Italian radio on 12 April and there is nothing about a 22 March release. 96.43.189.203 (talk) 15:42, 8 April 2024 (UTC)

Hello, the information you just presented has already been added here. For clarity, the song was primarily released in 22 March 2024 with the album. dxneo (talk) 15:55, 8 April 2024 (UTC)
The song was never released though along with the album and it is not even in the release history either. The song was simply given a music video but it is not a single, not until it impacts radio. 96.43.189.203 (talk) 17:36, 8 April 2024 (UTC)
Looking at the release history, it was sent to radio in Italy by Sony Music on 12 April 2024. Honestly, I never thought the song was a single when it was released on 22 March with the album, when I created the article it was formatted as song not single then Cybertrip changed it and I don't know why, I then asked him here why he thought "Art" was a single, see his reply. dxneo (talk) 18:53, 8 April 2024 (UTC)
Radio date is safer as it is in the release history whereas the album release date is not. Can we see what @Cybertrip has to say about it? 96.43.189.203 (talk) 15:27, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
@96.43.189.203 and Dxneo: Music journalists called the song a single before it was sent to radio so I just assumed it was, but yes I agree that it is safer to go with the radio date. cybertrip👽 ( 💬📝) 17:12, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
