Biannually and triannually[edit]

The article says the journal was "published biannually between 1916 to 1920, then triannually due to high costs". The words "biannual" and "triannual" are somewhat confusing. If those are supposed to mean twice per year and three times per year, then why would "high costs" drive a switch from twice per year to three times per year? Wouldn't cost reduction measures lead to a reduction in publication frequency? Is this describing a publication frequency of only one issue per two or three years (so only about ten issues in total over a 25-year period)? — BarrelProof (talk) 19:04, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It should probably be biennially and triennially (which mean every two years and every 3 years, respectively), and then it makes sense as far as reduction in costs. People often confuse biannually (twice in one year) with biennially. Inf-in MD (talk) 21:15, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
On the other hand, there is a photo illustration "Front page of the May–August 1936 edition". That's a four-month period, so it implies three issues per year. — BarrelProof (talk) 06:14, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
True. Were you able to verify the claim that it was due to high costs? There's a source given, but no page number for that book. Inf-in MD (talk) 13:38, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've corrected the frequency of publication and added the page; this is what the source says: "A bimonthly for its first twenty-four numbers (from 1916–20), Urania converted to three printings a year in January 1921, ‘owing to the continued high level of prices". Oh – that explains it – bimonthly, not biannually/biennially! — BarrelProof (talk) 19:21, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
