I posted this[edit]

on the Category:American artists' models

I am concerned about the inclusion of Valerie, Lady Meux here. And there might be others in the same boat. She is a model only because she (or someone) commissioned portraits to be done of her. Surely not everyone who had a portrait or bust of them made is to be included here? Perhaps that there is a Whistler section in the article is enough to warrant her being in this category. Maybe not. But in any case, before I remove her I want to hear from you. Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 16:20, 4 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The real Lady Meux[edit]

This article needs to be rewritten now that her true identity has been found. Read the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography ("Meux family", updated in 2008): https://doi.org/10.1093/ref:odnb/97889. She wasn't American, she was English, and her name was Susan Langdon. Or maybe we should wait until we're sure that the rest of the world agrees with the ODNB. --Heron (talk) 20:23, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
