Adding information about the work of the hospital?

[edit]

I am working with the Whitchurch Hospital Historical Society. We would like to add more details about the life of the hospital and the staff, citing PhDs, papers and newspaper articles, for example. Is this OK? As a newbie to Wikipedia, I want to be respectful of this informative, well established entry. Occupational Therapy History Matters (talk) 08:56, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - Please read WP:V, WP:CITE and WP:RS for guidance: you need to use "reliable, published sources". If you are a newbie to wikipedia, then it is always best to make small edits first, perhaps an extra sentence, to allow other editors to comment. Also bear in mind that wikipedia is an encyclopaedia so we are looking for matters which are "notable" rather than mere descriptions of life at the hospital. Best wishes. Thanks for very quick and helpful reply.
I was planning to add a few sentences about  the work of the Welsh Metropolitan War Hospital during World War 1.    Dr Goodall and the Matron, Florence Raynes both received awards for their service:  Dr Goodall a CBE and Matron a Royal Red Cross, 1st class which she received from the King at Buckingham Palace. Dr Orr, an American orthopaedic surgeon described his training in Cardiff, before going to France. I edited his entry and cited the publication, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H._Winnett_Orr
The sources are much more reliable and verifiable than social media; and there would be links to other Wikipedia entries.
How does this sound? Occupational Therapy History Matters (talk) 07:48, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That sounds fine. Thanks. Dormskirk (talk) 07:53, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've added a few sentences, with citations, about World War 1. Hope they are OK. You will see that I struggled with the references - didn't save them first time round. Still learning. Occupational Therapy History Matters (talk) 09:49, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi - It looks good. Dormskirk (talk) 09:51, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Apologies for tardy reply. Occupational Therapy History Matters (talk) 14:44, 19 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again, User:Dormskirk Just checking if it would be OK to add a paragraph about occupational therapy at Cardiff City Mental Hospital in the inter-war years? It would have 2 citations to publications and a wikilink. Thanks Occupational Therapy History Matters (talk) 12:45, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Fine with me. Dormskirk (talk) 13:33, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I really like that Wikipedia is a live encyclopaedia. Occupational Therapy History Matters (talk) 15:14, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
