Assessment Comments[edit]

I think this article meets the C class criteria so have duly uprated it.

  1. It has a clear concise history of the company / brands with links to related articles.
  2. A Tidy logical layout
  3. A clear list/timeline of vehicle models linked to related articles.
  4. A tidy selection of representative images of models
  5. The main failing is lack of Inline citations (a B class requirement)

The Mini article is in the Wikipedia:Peer review process - perhaps heading towards Featured Article status. I would greatly appreciate experts on Wolseley taking a look at it. A Small Query.[edit]

First Off, I've just created this account whilst looking for specific information. I'm not changing the article myself for a number of reasons - noteably the current inaccessibility of my small library on BMC products & Similar, which was my reason for coming here in the first place.

I believe there was at least one south african Wolseley-badged Mini variant with no extended boot. Can anyone provide data on this and any other non-uk models within the article? (the link given is useful, but I'd appreciate corroberative sources)

By the way, it was my understanding that the first Wolseley automobiles built in the UK were finished in October 1894. (can't cite a definitive source for reason noted above.

Although I don't have the reference to hand, I have also been led to believe that wolseley had their own development team within the nuffield/BMC organization, and that the development of the 1500 was it's last (semi)independent project. Browsing this page, I found a small error, so I corrected it. The showroom was not actually in Picadilly Circus, but in Picadilly (the street) itself, about a third of a mile from the Circus near Green Park. It is now (after a number of iterations) a restaurant, frequented by the glitterati, appropriately named "The Wolseley". (I know this because I was taken there a few weeks ago for my niece's birthday lunch... (:-)) Pete G. 21:21, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wolseley 1800[edit]

That's a Wolseley 18/85 or Wolseley Six, depending on its age and engine. Perhaps it was known as the 1800 in some markets, but that might also be a colloquialism, since it was based on the more common Austin and Morris 1800s (and 2200s). (Another?) Mystery Wolseley[edit]

I photographed a Wolseley today. But the owner wans't around and I don't know what kind of a Wolseley it is. It MIGHT be of a model for which we don't (till now) have a picture, in which case it might be helpful for the wiki-entry in question. So .... does anyone know what it is, please? (I GUESS we're looking to identify a small to middlish family car launched by Wolseley in the second half of the 1930s...) Charles01 (talk) 13:50, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Relevance of included material[edit]

From the article: "As of 2012 the Wolseley marque is owned by SAIC Motor, having been acquired by its subsidiary Nanjing Automobile following the break-up of the MG Rover Group. The Wolseley Sheep Shearing Machinery Company continued trading and is now Wolseley plc."

Why is the fate of The Wolseley Sheep Shearing Machinery Company relevant to this article when, according to the beginning of the article, their involvement with Wolselsy Motors ended before Wolseley Motors was incorporated? Sincerely, SamBlob (talk) 14:15, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wolseley Cars and Sheep Shearing confusion[edit]

I find the two paras under the heading The "Wolseley Tool and Motor Car Company Limited" confusing. Request for Editing[edit]

Can someone please clean this article up. The opening sentences are not clear insofar as to how this company stopped being part of an agricultural company to being a car and tool producer.
