think we can safely say that the 2020 championship was canceled[edit]

it is past the middle of august and there is no time to host 2 championships in rapid and blitz in 4 months. there is also no information on fide`s website regarding rapid and blitz, only classic chess. there is no indication at all when or if rapid and blitz will be held again. 84.212.107.130 (talk) 22:32, 17 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It appears that the tournament in Nur-Sultan, initially planned for late December 2021, has been postponed today, because of a 7-day quarantine period enforced by the Kazakh government (so announced during the FIDE live stream for game 10 of the WCC). On official FIDE site: FIDE World Rapid & Blitz Championships will not be held in Kazakhstan in December --Jonah 15:48, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Jonah. I'll add it to the article. Renerpho (talk) 16:18, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Just to bring closure to this discussion (fingers crossed): The tournament will be held in Warsaw, Poland, starting December 25th.[1] Renerpho (talk) 16:56, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

World Rapid & Blitz Chess Championships (since 2012)[edit]

This section appears to be duplicated in World Rapid Chess Championship. The sections need to be merged somehow. Espresso Addict (talk) 02:32, 27 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal[edit]

I think we should merge the World Rapid Chess Championship and World Blitz Chess Championship pages into World Rapid & Blitz Chess Championship which is more consistent with the modern FIDE branding and format of the event. I would suggest that a new page is created under that name and that the current pages redirect there. I have done a quick mockup. I would be grateful for comment from more experienced users.
