Associations[edit]

There are no other associations in Australia. There are other chains of hostels e.g. VIP and Nomads but they do not describe themselves as associations with the affiliation to HI. NtheP (talk) 17:33, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In many cases worldwide there is little difference between HI and independent hostels. HI does not have a monopoly on "official" hostels. HI is not even a nonprofit organization in many countries. VIP Backpackers works the same way as HI -- you buy a membership card and get a discount. Is YHA Australia a registered charity? AFAIK it's a commercial hostel network. Hostel have a choice to affiliate with HI or another hostel network. They are essentially the same from that perspective. Let99 (talk) 21:34, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Change 'It is a provider of backpacker accommodation in Australia.' To: 'It is a provider of accommodation for curious travellers of all types who are seeking self discovery and adventure be they young or old; backpackers, families, working holiday makers and local travellers all stay at YHAs.'

As written, that would not be an appropriate tone for a Wikipedia article (see WP:MOS and WP:TONE), curious travellers of all types who are seeking self discovery and adventure reads almost like promotional material to me. I've changed it to just say "hostel accommodation" instead of "backpacker accommodation" for it to be more accurate/general, but feel free to re-open this edit request or ping me if you still think there is an issue.
