Poe and The Raven[edit]

Does anyone have any more information on the watchtower in which Edgar Allen Poe supposedly wrote 'The Raven'?

Poe lived before Yaddo existed. There was a tavern at Yaddo's location which Poe was visiting. Supposedly he recited and created part of the poem down by the lakes where the stone tower now exists today. The best resource for this can be found in Marjorie Peabody Waite's "Yadoo, Yesterday and Today"

Rating[edit]

it is foolish to rate an article about Yaddo, a premier artist colony, as of low importance; it is only so if you think the arts are unimportant. Just read the list of names randomly included here as among the "6,000." i have removed Miranda J. as an outlier in this particular list.Heck, Hannah Arendt wasn't even included. It's of low importance in Wiki project architecture, and probably also in particle physics.--Quisqualis (talk) 04:42, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism[edit]

Considering Yaddo was the mecca for 20th century American literature I think the attention to vandalism in this article is grossly over-represented. It's really not that important. Since Yaddo is such a secretive institution not seeking publicity, I think the only reason Vandalism was mentioned in this article is because it is the only publicity in the media that this wikipedia user was able to find. Besides there were greater vandalism attacks in the past that would deserve more attention.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Yaddolover (talkcontribs)

I agree. The sentence does seem odd. GabrielF (talk) 17:05, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Does a residency at Yaddo confer notability on an artist?[edit]

I know a residency at Yaddo is a big deal. Is it sufficient to confer notability on an artist? See:

Thanks for your advice. --A. B. (talkcontribsglobal count) 02:37, 30 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
