River Crest Sanitarium (New York)

Hello Quisqualis, I see you removed George Dimitropolos (pulo) a second time from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_Crest_Sanitarium_(New_York). Dimitropolos was director of landmark building in Romania called Palatul_Bragadiru and he owned a hotel called Hotel Olympia in NYC (200 East 42nd Street) around 1914 (research in process) and then ended up in River Crest. He is not your average individual. Can you tell me your reasons for having removed him from River Crest? He is listed on this wikipedia here https://ro.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palatul_Bragadiru. Sources include death certificate and Play Bill from the Romanian Theatre. Please advise.

Wikipedia's standards of notability require coverage of a subject in WP:Reliable sources. Also, notability in Romania does not confer notability in the English-speaking world. Was Dimitropulo a national hero of Romania? Did he have an obituary in the New York Times? What books were written about him? Owning a hotel in New York City is something which many people have done. Some of the owners of multiple NYC hotels or national hotel chains have WP articles written about them, but maybe not Dimitropulo. Small fish, big pond. Do you see my point? It's the viewpoint of Wikipedia itself. Also note that we NEVER use WP as a source for WP, and that a theatre playbill is not a reliable secondary source, but a primary source, mainly for cast and crew information. A death certificate is a valid source on Wikipedia for verifying death, its time and its place. For en:Wikikpedia to consider Dimitropulo notable may take a lot of WP:Original research on your part. The results look good. You may want to note that Wikipedia has an WP: Image lab which can remove the ink stamp from the sky area of the colored postcard brochure. They do a very good job there. Apparently, the wrong face of the postcard was inked in the stamp-cancellation process back in 1920--Quisqualis (talk) 05:12, 4 February 2019 (UTC).

Hello, IP editor. The material presented in Gary at Ultragenyx's post regarding Mepsevii contains a disclaimer,

"The effect of this drug on the central nervous system manifestations of MPS VII has not been determined."

1st, I was on the plane that crashed. I have just finished writing a book about the crash and the numbers of 10 dead out of 45 on board the North Central plane are correct. There is no better source than the NSTB - AA-73-15 which is the investigative report on the accident by the National Safety Transportation Board. The link takes you to that report, but you then have to click on it. Trying to copy the link of the report itself did not work. So, I need more insight into your comments and exactly what you did. Regarding your comment while undoing my edit of article Duke Cunningham

Duke Cunningham is a decorated veteran to say the least. To not write about his military history because he is mostly notable for his political and criminal background is quite injudicious. So I believe there can be a healthy debate about including his military career in the introductory paragraph.

You are getting too acerbic with all of your comments. You told an experienced editor that "Wikipedia isn't about the truth. It's about what is stated in reliable sources. Please cite one." Yet, my edit summary explained that you cannot cite things that are no longer there. Not to mention that items in the infobox do not need to be cited when the material in the text of the article is already cited. In this particular edit, the body of the article lists five roller coasters at Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park. When I changed the infobox to agree with the text in the article you insisted there be a citation. Sorry, but your opinion is incorrect. The information is already within the body of the article. Hello sir, I have a request. Here it goes, on Shamsheer Vayalil wikipedia there is an infobox in which there is a column named alma mater. In that column name of two medical colleges are given: 1:) Kasturba Medical College, Manipal. 2:) Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Chennai. When I clicked on the link of second college I found that the college is not actually located in Chennai. It is located in "Porur" a city in "Chennai".But in early life paragraph " Porur" is indicated. So I request you to add "Porur" in the format I am showing you below. After I noticed this, I looked around and found quite a few things which were once on the internet in newspapers, stories, books and websites. Some of them have been deleted as time goes by, because most publications don't keep large backups, or old articles very long. TV stations in San Diego had a lot of this information on their Reporter Profile pages. Since I have retired, those pages were deleted. Some of this information was also posted on my personal website. It may have been deleted during my change in web hosts and site reorganizations. In any case, I found verifications for quite a few things. I posted several in February 2019 in the Talk section of the page. I posted more recently. So far, no one seems to have done anything about adding the citations. Since the page is about me, I cannot do it.

With a few very minor exceptions (which I noted on the Talk page), the profile/article/page/whatever you want to call it is accurate.

Any suggestions?

Yes, I have checked out the page. Who wouldn't check out an article about themselves. The page is not an autobiography. That is against Wikipedia rules. I have readers or viewers in many different places. For example New York Newsday once wrote a review about one of my websites many years ago. I had never seen that publication before. I found out about it while doing an unrelated web search. Some people have contributed to discussions on the Talk Page, whom I do not know personally. I don't know who created it originally. Since the 'encyclopedia article' is about me, I don't know what else to call it. A few years ago, I did correct one error in the article. Another editor informed me that was inappropriate, since you are not supposed to change things about matters you are part of. I removed the change. Someone else then reapplied the change a few days later. I did suggest the additions for some of the Citation Needed matters on the Talk Page after someone (it appears it was you) added 'Citation Needed' to many parts of the article. Since then, nobody has applied those suggestions. Perhaps you are not the person who added the Citation Needed markers to the article. I do know that if I had added Citation Needed to an article, I would check back later to see if any information had been provided to clarify or support something.

I mainly use Wikipedia as a source of information. Occasionally, I try to improve it. With due respect, I doubt any additions to your profile actually improve the encyclopedia.--Quisqualis (talk) 22:57, 20 June 2019 (UTC)

I edit this article with the purpose of bringing new information about types of renewable energy in Vietnam to everyone so all sections like Solar energy, Hydropower,... are written for the public. You Removed some edits from the Afridi article

Regarding the Book , "Eighteen years in the Khyber"

I had given the source and url to the wiki article of the book eighteen years in the Khyber , but it seems like someone may have deleted that page for some reason , Now the only link available is the review for the book and where to read it , including on the article of it's Author Robert Warburton in the family section. Long story. Initially, I made an edit of one space character in order to turn my name blue. I recently realized that other editors might waste their time visiting a blank user page, and changed it back to red. I dislike summing myself up, and have minimal social media presence. A Suggestion for Quisqualis

Dearest Quisqualis,

You've responded to several things I have posted on the Wikipedia Teahouse. I don't always find your thoughts or suggestions useful or helpful, but, your input does not go unnoticed, and there is some insight, often mirroring subsequent comments.

That said, you don't have a user page. When I see your comments, your name is in red. Is there a reason you have not created a user page?

At the time I'm writing this, I'm new, but I took the time to at least create a minimal user page. On the other hand, you have many sections on your talk page, and it seems you've been around for a while.

Just a thought.

Adirampattinam

You reverted my edits on Adirampattinam stating "If there is sourced data regarding normal temps, don't replace it with record highs! Even if you like the source, that's inappropriate. Your interest in record highs is your personal thing, not Wikipedia's". I believe that the revert was unnecessary for a couple of reasons.

• Even if you like the source, that's inappropriate. First of all, the source I added is from the India Meteorological Department, which is an official source. Climatedata.org, according to their website uses modelled data and states "All of our climate data comes from a climate model. The model has more than 220 million data points and a resolution of 30 arc seconds. The model uses weather data from thousands of weather stations from all over the world. This weather data was collected between 1982 and 2012." Observed data is more reliable, especially if it is coming from an official source. This has been the norm in other climate tables in other countries where official sources are preferred if data is available. Secondly, you are just using a straw man argument where I use the source just because I like it, claiming that I don't like it. This has nothing to do with emotion, I am simply trying to improve climate data in Indian Cities that have long being plagued with vandalism and lack of good data compared to other cities. I can argue that you are just exhibiting the I don't like it mentality because you cannot justify why the previous version is better other than stirring up emotional responses.

• If there is sourced data regarding normal temps, don't replace it with record highs! Are you yelling at me. Clearly, that's not how you approach users who are acting in good faith trying to improve articles. In many cities around the world such as New York City, Paris, Moscow, Hong Kong, Cape Town, Mexico City, Sydney and etc, many climate tables have record highs and lows. It is standard to include this given that record temperatures are frequently discussed on the media. Should we start deleting record temperatures then because you don't like it? That would bring a lot of opposition from users. The India Meteorological Department source unfortunately does not have mean temperatures and because the temperatures differ from the climatedata.org source, we cannot use the mean temperatures from 2 different sources neither can one assume that mean temperatures is (max+min)/2 (some countries define mean temperatures differently or calculate it as a 24 hour average)

• Your interest in record highs is your personal thing, not Wikipedia's". Pointless personal attack. Since when it is Wikipedia's policy that we ought to delete record highs and lows. You are just using the Argumentum ad populum fallacy to weaken my position when the opposite holds true where most users do want to have record highs and lows (lack of deletion). This is because Wikipedia is not considered to be a reliable source, given that it is open-sourced and is known to contain many errors. Please read the page called WP:CIRCULAR, which explains why we never cite Wikipedia to support facts in Wikipedia. When changing facts in articles, always be sure to cite supporting sources in a way that is helpful to readers of the article, that is, by using in-line citations, and you will be "good to go". This is the reason why I have trusted the source Wikipedia page: That Indian tv serial have been aired since a very long period and have been telecasted several times of a week. So the episode count can't be so low. The episode count, I think, is higher than as mentioned in the source Wikipedia page. You can search for it. Yes, they all appear to have hatched from the same clutch of eggs this spring. There are a few more, including user:DaniHart08, who I knew right away was an adult male, and they all converse on-wiki. Initially, I thought it a miracle that Hamuyi and Shadowblade08.2 had found one another, and I hoped they would "get a room", but that was not to be. At times, editors find themselves competing to be helpful in these ridiculous situations.
Yet another, and, I believe, entirely original troll is Visionhelp. Initially, I thought this was a tragic case of schizophrenia or dementia. I later realized that they were a master of pompous, irritated pseudo-German gibberish. I think the sheer persistence of these trolls reveals their intent, as with a recently blocked user I seem to remember as "Ram Nareshji". Shock absorber - removed my 3D model?

Hi Quisqualis, I see you removed my 3D model of shock absorber which was added in Shock absorber article. Considering it is related to the subject and from engineering/mechanic area and people from that field are also interested to see an actual 3D model, may I ask why it was removed and what I did wrong? I also see you removed several of my 3D models added to specific subjects. I really do not see a reason for doing that: I followed all rules by Wikipedia, all those 3D models are mine, my copyrights, giving it for free for educational purposes and all of them are related to the subject of the article. I am just trying to improve things here, especially from engineering area, considering all of us use 3D models in 2020. Isn't that a step forward for Wikipedia, new improvement, especially when knowing that students use Wikipedia as a source of information? Population Spread

Hey there Quisqualis, I just saw that you edited the Edmeston, New York page, removing the red link for population spread. I'm guessing you saw my question about it and since I'm still learning how things work on here, I was wondering what your thought process was. I've been looking into how the Census generally labels the type of age data that is currently labeled as population spread on this page. It looks like that type of data is usually called age structure/distribution/composition. I did misread the instructions. However, in my hours of researching this situation, I discovered the article's creator is a college student who views WP as a form of amusement, and who is socking. While the unsourced article is substantially similar to many Indian village articles, the first paragraph goes overboard (to say the least) and is a parody of the genre. Thanks, Quisqualis, as I've pointed out on my talk page, I've been Mieliestronk on Wikipedia for years and years, at least on another language platform. It was an oversight on my side even to have referred to my has-been website Mieliestronk in the first place. I have now changed my "hello page" too, just to explain my bona fides! I think I've been Mieliestronk on Wikipedias, or at least on the web here and there, long before I even had a website by that name. It actually is just a generic thing, this name. In the Afrikaans language in South Africa "Mieliestronk" simply means "corn cob" or "maize cob", nothing more. Old-timers made smoking pipes from the stuff, and I could just as well have called myself "Kruiwa" (wheel-barrow) or any other well-known thingy on South African farms. Deleted References from draft - Institute B61

Thanks for looking into my draft of Institute B61. Unfortunately, I do not understand why you deleted nearly all of my references.

The original draft was rejected because there were not enough references. In the last two weeks I was adding those references from sources as varied as possible: nation-wide magazines and newspapers, city portals, culture portals, film festivals, national culture institutions, national science portals, etc. I cannot find more reliable sources for a non-governmental organisation that organises events merging science, music, and performance.

Please advise.

• What other references should I look for?
• What other references can be used for a culture-related NGO?

Hello. Regarding this revert. I don't see any problems with that edit of mine. Excuse me if you already know, but perhaps you are not familiar with how sortkeys work. See Help:Category#Sorting category pages. Sorting items for a category list uses the same syntax as a pipe link, but it's not a pipe link and has no effect on the displayed link. It merely sorts the page in question. See Category:Lists of monuments and memorials in Morocco. Currently the page 'List of monuments and sites in Tata, Morocco' is alphabetically sorted under L for "List", the first letter of the title (this is result of the revert), instead of being listed under T for "Tata", as I intended by adding the sortkey. 2020 is behind us at last. Off Wikipedia, the year has been trying. On Wikipedia, I hope you've found the time you spent here fulfilling and diverting. I've taken the opportunity to place a few end-of-year statistics for reflection below. If you think of any data that would be useful to find (or begin gathering) to gauge the project's success, please let me know. With that, here is what's happening around the project:

Year in Review
With 2020 now in the rear view mirror, a few numbers to give a sense of where our project is at: In 2020 we added a record number of medicine articles (i.e. articles with the WP:MED tag on their talk pages), starting the year with 41,243 and ending with 45,247. The ~4,000 new articles is well above the norm, presumably due to new covid-related articles. In terms of reviewed content, we added three featured articles (Dementia with Lewy bodies, Complete blood count, and Buruli ulcer), and lost three to the ravages of time, leaving our total at 66. We also added 42 newly reviewed good articles from 23 different nominators, bringing our total to 296. See a full list of reviewed content from 2020 here. Outside of reviewed content our contributions are more challenging to measure. I'm sure much our time was spent making small improvements, guiding new editors, removing junk from articles, and dealing with the raging global pandemic (on and off the site). I am interested in ways we can quantify and assess our project's progress going forward, so if anyone has ideas for other data we could find or collect, do let me know.

Other notes

• The WMF's Community Wishlist Survey has ended. Results are posted here.
• If you missed it, consider reading folks' thoughts on helping new editors at this recent WT:MED discussion.
• After a quieter month at the Collaboration of the Month (Dexamethasone), we'll be taking this month off. The COTM will return in February. Propose and vote on nominations here.
• Thanks to all who helped deal with last month's backlog, medicine articles that cite no sources. 28 down, 382 to go. We'll pick a new backlog next month. In the meantime, for any interested, I've posted an updated list of articles that lack sources here.

If it means little to you, why have you added the same two German Nazi propaganda pix to the article more times than I can count? If you don't want to debate, then stop adding those photos, with no context given whatsoever, to History of Bosnia and Herzegovina. If you delete warnings from your Talk, it is, per the talk page guidelines, a silent admission of having read and fully understood them:

• "Although archiving is preferred, users may freely remove comments from their own talk pages. Users may also remove some content in archiving. The removal of a warning is taken as evidence that the warning has been read by the user. This specifically includes both registered and unregistered users. (Many new users believe they can hide critical comments by deleting them. This is not true: Such comments can always be retrieved from the page history.)"

You don't get to mock / taunt people just because they didn't set a header. There is no exception in WP:CIVILITY for abusing users accused of being sockpuppets. I get being frustrated, and lashing out with a "fuck you" or similar, as Floquenbeam mentions - but repeatedly edit warring to mock and taunt is something else entirely. From what I recall, I found the IP edit as one of A3's first edits to WP. It was something to do with John Travolta and the name 'Wrath', I think. (Sadly, they have an extensive history of edits.) I just clicked on one of the oldest, and landed on the 'wrath' edit. However, that doesn't quite make sense, and I lost the history by looping back with the back button. Be sure to escalate my warnings if you attempt to block.

Ah, was hoping you had a list of the others of the pattern. I know I've seen this editor before; I have a lot of their targets already on my watchlist, e.g. saw them on They Live and Al Leong at the same time. Reported to ARV, because it looked like they were still active at that exact moment (and purposefully didn't write on their talk) and maybe they noticed and were spooked or were done for the day. Unless they're switching IPs while editing disruptively in a very short timeframe, admins are unlikely (and for good reason) to institute a rangeblock, unless it's really really systematic and ongoing. If you find what led you to that older IP and any threads that tie them, maybe it's better to catalog at WP:LTA than ARV (where I was hoping for real-time block on at least one account). Cheers! Are you familiar with dynamic IPs? I believe this person has an IP that spontaneously changes without their input. Given that I was the first to warn them after many months of their blithely making bad edits, it's possible that WP is their hobby and they believe they are editing constructively. We, our and us

See Wikipedia:Manual of Style#Grammar and usage. It concluded that "To maintain an objective and impersonal encyclopedic voice, an article should never refer to its editors or readers using I, my, we, us, or similar forms." Author's we in scientific writing should be rephrasing with passive voice. It is not compulsory at all but if we follow Wikipedia:Writing better articles#Use of pronouns is preferable to construct the best tone in the encyclopedia. MariWriter, there is a problem with using any blog as a source for Wikipedia content. As I said on your Talk page, "Reliable source standards clearly state that blogs are never used in citations supporting article content, as blogs are not compelled to be neutral, or even accurate."

I would like to better understand Wikipedia's volunteers who edit medical topics, many associated with the WikiProject Medicine, and known to create some of the highest quality content on Wikipedia. I hope that the lessons I can learn from you that I will present to the academic audience will benefit both the WikiProject Medicine (improving your understanding of yourself and helping to promote it and attract new volunteers) and the wider world of medical volunteering and academia. Tyrsenian languages

I rolled back the sentence that was there before, which in my opinion is definitely much more accurate than yours. Whereas the sentence you wrote is wrong, because it makes believe that the Etruscans genetically were survivors of the Neolithic-Chalcolithic populations, when in fact genetically, as stated by the geneticists themselves, the Etruscans were similar to the Latins, both in autosomal DNA and uniparental markers, so much so that the Etruscans also have Steppe ancestry. So it is the language that has survived, but the Etruscans are not Neolithic-Chalcolithic survivors, any more than are peoples speaking Indo-European languages like the Latins. I don't think it's true what you say, geneticists also answer the lingusitic question. So much so that even the next paragraph reiterates the concept (Krause is one of the authors of this research as well). This is the paragraph from the 2021 study: "The historically documented persistence of the non–Indo-European Etruscan language in Etruria indicates that this speech community was maintained despite a large-scale admixture, a situation similar to the Basque region in Iberia where a non–Indo-European language endures today (24). This linguistic persistence, combined with a genetic turnover, challenges simplistic assumptions that genes equal languages and suggests a more complex scenario that may have involved the assimilation of (early) Italic speakers by the Etruscan speech community, possibly during a prolonged period of admixture over the second millennium BCE. This scenario is made plausible by the recent finding of steppe-related ancestry in central Italy as early as 1650 BCE followed by an increase of this component through time (18). Although Etruscan is considered a relict language, which survived in central Italy until the Imperial Period, it was not isolated. Instead, Etruscan seems to be linked to both Rhaetic, a language documented in the eastern Alps in a population that ancient historians claim to have migrated from the Po valley, and to Lemnian, a language putatively spoken on ancient Lemnos in the Aegean Sea. This leaves the question open as to whether these enigmatic “Tyrsenian” languages may somehow relate to sea-borne expansions from the eastern Mediterranean (37). However, the lack of Iranian-related ancestry in C.Italy_Etruscan might also suggest that the close linguistic affinity across the Mediterranean Sea could represent population movements departing from the Italian peninsula." Hi Jerry3zs, My comment was my observation, based on the sourcing for the draft and the other comments left on the page. I don't review/accept/decline drafts, so you may just want to wait it out (could be months, there's no queue), and see what actually happens. My foggy crystal ball says that, given current Wikipedia acceptance standards, it is unlikely to make it. You could ask one of the declining reviewers whether sourcing is currently the problem. The draft has a bushel of weak sources which don't serve to confer notability. Once a company has "made it", sourcing is easier to come by, hence, WP:TOOSOON seems quite possible to me. PS: If you wish to re-use my edits for non-Wikipedia purposes, they are the property of Wikipedia; under its licensing, attribution must be given to WP, but no $.--Quisqualis (talk) 21:47, 18 January 2023 (UTC)

@Hgh1985, you have recently fallen afoul of good faith editing practices, creating an impression "an editor with a very recent history of overt vandalism asks about advanced permissions" of having prioritized your edit count over good editing judgment. I took note of this edit, which carelessly and gratuitously rewords an unambiguous phrase in a way which may create reader confusion. I can only guess why you chose to make that edit, but please cease making any more edits of that nature. While you appear to have studied English and are capable of generating comprehensible English prose, you do not seem to conceptualize with nuance in English, which makes the rewording of Wikipedia somewhat outside your area of competence.-- Quisqualis (talk) 18:32, 19 January 2023 (UTC)

National varieties of English

Hello. In a recent edit to the page Robert Black (serial killer), you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to another English-speaking country, such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, India, or Pakistan use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the original author of the article used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style. • Wikipedia:Good article reassessment is back in business, with a new process and new coordinators. If you see medicine-related GAs that may no longer meet the GA criteria, feel free to nominate them for attention/reassessment (please, not too many at once, lest we get overwhelmed). I'll incorporate them into the listings above.
• Major depressive disorder, Schizophrenia, and Dengue fever are featured articles that need updating. Feel free to chime in at the talk pages or WT:MED if you have the time/bandwidth to help update. They'll likely go to featured article review for more feedback in the near(ish) future (probably in the order listed).

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
