"Courtesy name Dax"[edit]

The first sentence in the current version specifies his name as "Zhu Zhenheng (Chinese: 朱震亨; pinyin: Zhū Zhènhēng; 1282–1358),^[1] courtesy name Dax (Chinese: 丹溪; pinyin: Dāx)...". I'm puzzled by this rendering: "Dax" doesn't look like pinyin-romanized Mandarin; it looks like it's pronounced [daks], with a distinctly non-Chinese syllable, and a reading like [daɕ] would still have a non-Mandarin final in the syllable. Looking up the characters on Wiktionary, the pronunciation of 丹溪 would instead be pinyin: Dānxī, Mandarin pronunciation: [tän⁵⁵ɕi⁵⁵] (maybe with tone sandhi or something, I don't actually speak Chinese).

So, what happened here? Does the name actually have such a weird (for Mandarin) syllable in it? Or is this a case of where the name in Western sources is quite different from the name as pronounced in Chinese (cf. Confucius, pinyin: Kǒng Fūzǐ)?
