Abyss Odyssey[edit]

  • Still some issues; certain aspects of the game are not described clearly enough (particularly the "opens when enough people defeat the warlock" part, as the IGN review acknowledges that it is a different form each time), and Destructoid is hit or miss when it comes to being considered a reliable source. The lead also does not summarize the article well enough, as art nouveau is downgraded to "unique art style". Gaming Trend is also not listed on WP:VG/S, so I'm not sure if its reliability has been properly evaluated. ViperSnake151  Talk  23:42, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
  • I'm not sure how germane a lot of this is for a DYK nom, but I absolutely really appreciate the help and I've tried to address some of your concerns below. To address some of your points:
  • I struggled greatly to describe the game in the lead, because it is a game that's a fusion of at least four different genres that most reviews really struggled to describe well. I also kept it at "unique art style" because while the original inspiration was art noveau, the eventual game might have included different art styles. Most of the sources mention its "unique art style" so I tried to stay as broad as possible in my summary. I'll modify it once I'm home.
  • You're right about Gaming Trend. I looked at their editorial policy to see if I could independently establish reliability but they are staffed by "100% volunteers" with "no editor-in-chief". So I think that's a bust. I've proposed an alt below that should be suitable based on the RSs and I will be removing the Gaming Trend source asap.
  • With the warlock bit: you do fight the warlock again when the new content opens up. IGN is just noting that it "changes forms". Honestly, the game has a ton of amazing and cool ideas but you can see the problem when it's tough to describe basic game mechanics from it.
  • The article should be more than sourced enough to pass DYK based on the RPS link at least for ALT1. I'll be removing the Gaming Trend interview when I get back from work, with its flaws and all. I'll try and clean it up a bit more too in the next few days, but it should be solid from here. Nomader (talk) 02:42, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
  • It's better now. I did a bit of copyediting of my own too. I also got one more possible hook idea. ViperSnake151  Talk  02:15, 29 August 2014 (UTC)
ALT2 ... that the video game Abyss Odyssey took inspiration from the Art Nouveau movement, Super Smash Bros., and Street Fighter?
