Albany Free School[edit]

Created/expanded by Czar (talk). Self-nominated at 22:47, 9 May 2015 (UTC).

  • ALT0 refers to the state of affairs in 1969, so I'm not sure we should be making a generality in the present tense. In this sense ALT1 is preferable. EEng (talk) 18:58, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
@EEng, the supporting section of the text is:

Ron Miller wrote that the Albany Free School stands out as an "anomaly" and model for American free schools, which tend to serve upper-middle class children. (Kavner 2012)

so not the 1969 state of affairs, but the present day. czar  20:13, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
OK, I was looking at the bit that said
It was founded in 1969 by Mary Leue, who wanted to start a school that was free both by "democratic principles and accessibility to poor children".[1] Leue approached A. S. Neill of Summerhill, the democratic school's progenitor, for advice on how to make a similar school for working-class children, he replied that "she would be mad to try".
But there's another problem. "Free school" (even qualified with "democratic") is a kind of term of art, I guess, and I fear readers will confuse it with public schools. This is another problem with ALT0, and I'd still prefer ALT1 for that reason. EEng (talk) 20:21, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
Which is why it's linked to disambiguate. Anyway, thanks and noted czar  23:19, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
  • This article is new enough and long enough. Going with ALT1 which I think is more satisfactory. The article is neutral and does not include close paraphrasing as far as I can see. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:48, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
