Overall: Overall the article looks mostly good but there are a couple tweaks needed. It's a recent GA with no apparent copyvio. The plot is a bit long but I don't think it can be cut down much, it's just aa long page. The lede describes them as "Earth's Mightiest Heroes", can we add that to the body of the article so it's supported? The only problem with sourcing I saw is that some of the newsarama links seem to be broken, even the archived versions. Do you think this is fixable? ALT1 doesn't seem to be supported by the LA Times article, which doesn't say that DC is imitating the MCU per se. I'm wondering if there are any more interesting hooks than this though, ALT2 isn't very interesting imo and ALT0 is just box office numbers. BuySomeApples (talk) 05:28, 21 January 2024 (UTC)
- @BuySomeApples: What about Alt3 ... that Kevin Feige first envisioned a shared universe featuring the Avengers in the mid-2000's? Source
- That's pretty good @ZooBlazer: and we can always have multiple options for the promoter to pick. BuySomeApples (talk) 03:05, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
- These might also work:
- ALT4 ...that Roger Ebert compared the Avengers to the winners of the Westminster Dog Show? ([1])
- ALT5 ...that the success of the Avengers inspired other film studios to try launching their own cinematic universes? ([2]) (Basically ALT1 minus the JL)
- ALT6 ...that the Russo brothers spent months lobbying for Spider-Man to meet the Avengers? ([3]) BuySomeApples (talk) 03:05, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
- @BuySomeApples: Of those three, I think 5 and 6 work best. So, I guess one of either ALT3, ALT5, or ALT6. If 5 or 6 are used, "the" doesn't need to be part of the wikilink. -- ZooBlazer 03:14, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
- Awesome! I'm gonna give the article another look now. BuySomeApples (talk) 03:39, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
- @ZooBlazer: One thing that probably should have been caught in GA review is that the lede still mentions stuff that isn't in the article, like the upcoming films featuring the Avengers. We probably shouldn't call Endgame a "perfect conclusion" in the lede, since that's not necessarily a universally accepted opinion. Instead, we can say it "received praise from critics as a conclusion for that iteration of the team". In "Cultural impact", we should add a source that explicitly says that the DCEU was imitating the MCU (even though it's obvious). BuySomeApples (talk) 03:56, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
- I wonder if in AOU we can use different phrasing than "Whedon noted the diversity of the characters," because it might imply a different kind of diversity than is meant here. Maybe something like "the differences between the characters". Also this sentence is hard to understand: "with problems which Whedon 'had on the first one' for strong powers; those powers are superspeed, and spells and telekinesis, respectively, which 'they can do that will help sort of keep it fresh'".
