Bergen Beach, Brooklyn
[edit]- ... that Bergen Beach is one of several New York City neighborhoods that once had an amusement park? Source: NPS General Management Plan. "In 1903, the Golden City Amusement Park opened, rivaling similar developments at Rockaway Beach, Coney Island, and Staten Island. Nearby Bergen Beach also boasted an amusement park..." (Note that Staten Island is a borough, not a neighborhood.)
- ALT1:... that Bergen Beach, a residential neighborhood in New York City, once contained an amusement park? Source: NPS.
- ALT2:... that "Irish villagers" and "girls in clinging lace costumes" could once be seen along the boardwalk of Bergen Beach, a residential neighborhood in New York City? Source: NPS.

- Comment: A short section of the article was cut from the Percy G. Williams article. However, the article was expanded five-fold after that was taken into account.
5x expanded by Epicgenius (talk). Self-nominated at 19:36, 17 January 2018 (UTC).
- @Epicgenius: The article far exceeds 5x expansion, which as performed within the proper period. There are ample sources for this neutrally worded article and no evidence of close paraphrasing (Earwig notes a close match with this source, which seems primarily related to use of a quotation). While the hooks are neutral and within length limits, the existence of a former amusement park doesn't seem to be particularly interesting to the broad Wikipedia audience. I will look at the article for other hook-worthy items and hope to see the QPQ met in the meantime. Perhaps some of the text from the quotation could be included in the hook -- "... Bergen Beach, Brooklyn once had an amusement park (or resort) that featured 'Egyptian dancing girls, Irish villagers, knights in armor [and] girls in clinging lace costumes'..." or some variation thereof. - @Alansohn: Thanks for the review. I will do the QPQ soon. I'm also going to think about potential other hooks that may fit. epicgenius (talk) 17:18, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
- @Alansohn: I have done a QPQ. How about ALT2? epicgenius (talk) 19:28, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
