  • Hi Flibirigit, review follows: article created 28 December; article exceeds minimum length; article is well written and cited inline throughout to reliable sources; I can't access all the sources but I didn't pick up any overly close paraphrasing from those I could; hook fact is interesting, mentioned in the article and backed up by source cited. I've linked Three stars (ice hockey) in the hook as it will be a term not known to the majority of the readership; image licensing looks OK to me; a QPQ has been carried out. No issues here - Dumelow (talk) 10:49, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
  • @Flibirigit: The hook doesn't seem to be about Mayer so much. Yoninah (talk) 23:54, 31 December 2020 (UTC)
  • I feel it is the most interesting part of the article. You're welcome to propose something else. Flibirigit (talk) 00:39, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
  • No, you propose something else, please. I went through the whole article and all it reads like is a resume. This hook angle is a minuscule part of the career you're presenting. As an American baseball fan, the only interesting hook ideas that occur to me are the parts about the Hot Stove League, or maybe mentioning all the different kinds of sports he covered as a journalist. • I will contemplate for several days before further response. Flibirigit (talk) 16:24, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
  • I am still contemplating this nomination. It is not necessary to give reminders. I will come back when ready. Thank you in advance for patience. Flibirigit (talk) 18:05, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
*Here are some other hook suggestions: Flibirigit (talk) 16:00, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
  • Second opinions requested. Courtesy @Dumelow:, the original reviewer if he/she is willing. Anyone is welcome to comment. Flibirigit (talk) 18:28, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
Flibirigit & Yoninah, both of these check out. My preference is still for the ALT0, I think the focus is on Mayer's selection rather than Richard. It would perhaps be better reordered with Mayer mentioned first - Dumelow (talk) 10:57, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
