Day of Reckoning (2016 film)

  • ... that Day of Reckoning was released as a Syfy original and was shown as part of the channel's 31 Days of Halloween program in October 2016? Source: [1]

Created/expanded by Filmomusico (talk), Bovineboy2008 (talk) and SL93 (talk). Nominated by Filmomusico (talk) at 03:50, 25 August 2021 (UTC).

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
QPQ: None required.

Overall: Article is new enough, long and sourced. The page does not seem to be neutral enough though. The "Plot" section is written like the back of a DVD. It asks exciting questions of the readers and builds up suspense, but it isn't really encyclopedic. That part of the article would have to be completely rewritten. The hook is cited but not interesting, Syfy airs a lot of original horror movies and TV shows in the build up to Halloween every year. I can't think of any althooks but you might be able to find another one @Filmomusico:. BuySomeApples (talk) 06:35, 26 August 2021 (UTC)

  • @BuySomeApples: I don't own a DVD and I don't have cable to watch it on. If it helps, I rewrote the "Plot" in my own words from here.--Filmomusico (talk) 16:15, 26 August 2021 (UTC)
    • @Filmomusico: Sorry I didn't mean to imply that you literally copied it from a DVD! I just mean that it's not written like an encyclopedia article. It's like the kind of synopsis you'd have in a movie trailer or DVD jewelbox. You should look at the page for Army of the Dead which was recently on DYK for pointers. The page itself is good, it just needs a little work. A new hook will also need to be provided if you can find one. SyFy releasing an original horror movie isn't really interesting (that's like having a hook about how a drama show was released by FX. BuySomeApples (talk) 18:06, 26 August 2021 (UTC)
      • @BuySomeApples: I have an idea for a hook from film critic Kim Newman here that I can add to the article if it's acceptable. - ALT1:... that a television in the film Day of Reckoning includes scenes from Big Ass Spider!? SL93 (talk) 19:41, 28 August 2021 (UTC)
        • That works @SL93: thanks for doing that! BuySomeApples (talk) 20:58, 28 August 2021 (UTC)
          • @BuySomeApples: I added the fact and attempted to reword the plot. SL93 (talk) 21:29, 28 August 2021 (UTC)
            • @SL93: nice work! I see that you also fixed the issues with the synopsis. I'm approving ALT1 and adding you to the nomination since you did a lot of work to get this nom ready. BuySomeApples (talk) 22:13, 28 August 2021 (UTC)
              • @BuySomeApples: and @SL93: Thank you so much for all your hard work! I personally didn't knew of johnnyalucard.com and by it's site's name I wouldn't have thought that it would be considered as a reliable source!--Filmomusico (talk) 05:25, 29 August 2021 (UTC)
                • @Filmomusico: It's reliable because it's the personal website of film critic Kim Newman. Per WP:SELFPUB, "Self-published expert sources may be considered reliable when produced by an established subject-matter expert, whose work in the relevant field has previously been published by reliable, independent publications." SL93 (talk) 13:55, 29 August 2021 (UTC)
Approving ALT1. BuySomeApples (talk) 00:51, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
