Dog & Bull

The Dog & Bull in 2011
The Dog & Bull in 2011

5x expanded by Andrew Davidson (talk), Davidstewartharvey (talk), and FeydHuxtable (talk). Nominated by Andrew Davidson (talk) at 16:36, 31 January 2021 (UTC).

  • Obvious attempt by article creator to sway an ongoing, highly contentious AFD.Mztourist (talk) 05:28, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
  • The AfD caused the article to be expanded over 5x. The article then qualified for DYK and the nomination has to be done within 7 days per the usual rules. The expansion credits have gone to myself, @Davidstewartharvey: and @FeydHuxtable: and we can add more as appropriate. All these editors have naturally commented at the AfD already. It seems unlikely that the DYK will make much difference but any additional participation seems likely to be neutral as I don't suppose that the DYK regulars have strong views on such topics. In any case, the AfD has been relisted to attract more comment and the more participation we get, the better the consensus will be. Andrew🐉(talk) 11:46, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
  • Reviewing. Will complete shortly. The subject is of great interest to Londoners particularly. The pub is on one of the most famous roads of Croydon. Well sourced, expanded 5x, reads reasonably well. Some of the content in lead can be added to main text. Hook is sound with it being in the article and referenced appropriately. The pub is of historical interest going back to at least 1430. QPQ provided. In the meantime...thought...there was major surgery there every week for several years in the 70s. • . Image is free and clear. Copyvio is high only due to the quote. QPQ provided. Hopefully the tag will be removed. Several buildings nearby are also notable including maybe the pawn shop a few doors away. It's a stone throw away from the historic Grants Centre and a waterworks responsible for typhoid outbreaks. It sits in the centre of the famous fruit and veg market. A very interesting read. Whispyhistory (talk) 21:11, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
  • @Whispyhistory:. Re your comment above, "Some of the content in lead can be added to main text", that has now been done. Storye book (talk) 17:20, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
  • Yes, Whispyhistory's idea for an ALT is clever and Storye book has now opened up a rich new seam of nuggets of knowledge. We should keep adding to the list of credits as the topic develops. Kudos! Andrew🐉(talk) 19:05, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
  • Just a thought...
Nice hook. Philafrenzy (talk) 20:35, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
