Garçon Wines

Flat bottle with mailer designed to go through a mail slot
Flat bottle with mailer designed to go through a mail slot
  • ... that Garçon Wines make a wine bottle (pictured) that can fit through a letterbox? Source: "Garçon Wines, launched in 2017, claimed its bottle was the first that could be posted through a letterbox" [1]
  • Reviewed: Sonny West (musician)
  • Comment: One of the company co-directors was at London 144 yesterday; I said I would write the article if it turned out to be notable.

  • Reviewing...the hook is excellent, article new enough, don't forget talk page. Will complete soon. Thanks Ritchie333. Whispyhistory (talk) 19:04, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
  • no copyvio issues, hook in article and cited. Sources ok, QPQ done. you could add one of the images. Neutral article. good work Ritchie333 and Valereee. Whispyhistory (talk) 11:02, 17 July 2019 (UTC)
The images weren't there when I started the nomination; now they are, I've added one. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:10, 17 July 2019 (UTC)
hahahahaha thanks Ritchie! --valereee (talk) 11:12, 17 July 2019 (UTC)
ok to image, 2,832 × 2,480 pixels, free licence. Whispyhistory (talk) 14:57, 17 July 2019 (UTC)
I had changed "your" to "a", per MOS:YOU, but I see that it's been changed back. Is there some compelling reason to ignore the MOS? Also, is "Garçon Wines make" correct British usage? In the US it would be "makes". The plural usage in the hook seems inconsistent with the singular usage in the article, which begins "Garçon Wines is". MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 18:18, 17 July 2019 (UTC)
Thanks...I prefer "a" too. Whispyhistory (talk) 18:22, 17 July 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for switching it back. Pinging Ritchie333 and Valereee about make/makes/is/are. And one more thing: in my opinion, the other image in the article, with the mailer designed to go through a mail slot, illustrates the hook much better. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 18:47, 17 July 2019 (UTC)
Mandarax, I agree that in American English, it would be makes/is. --valereee (talk) 19:02, 17 July 2019 (UTC)
It's "makes/is" in American English and "make/are" in British English. See here. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 20:25, 17 July 2019 (UTC)
That's what I thought, but I wondered about the inconsistency. It should be changed in the article. I'll let you take care of it; it would be unseemly for an American to do it. :-) MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 20:45, 17 July 2019 (UTC)
The hook is ok as it is but agree that the other image is more aesthetically pleasing to the eye...has a glass of red next to the bottle... @Ritchie333:. Whispyhistory (talk) 20:30, 17 July 2019 (UTC)
Both the BrEng in the lead and the image have been fixed as requested. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 21:39, 17 July 2019 (UTC)
ticking all again...thank youWhispyhistory (talk)
  • Comment -- Garçon Wines, launched in 2017, claimed its bottle was the first that could be posted through a letterbox does not lead to the assertion that:- Garçon Wines make a wine bottle that can fit through a letterbox. I have not looked at whether other sources really support the assertion and even the lead does not. ~ Winged BladesGodric 13:46, 18 July 2019 (UTC)
Did you try ordering one and get a card through the post saying "We are sorry, but this package is too big to be delivered" then? Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 16:12, 18 July 2019 (UTC)
In my two visits to the country, did not have a chance to verify it. On a serious note, find a better source (which I expect to be fund); even the lead states of the claim. ~ Winged BladesGodric 19:19, 18 July 2019 (UTC)
ALT0a... that Garçon Wines make a wine bottle (pictured) designed to fit through a letterbox? --valereee (talk) 16:31, 18 July 2019 (UTC)
...ALT0a is okay, the article has a better reference. Whispyhistory (talk) 05:37, 26 July 2019 (UTC)
  • Hi, I came by to promote this but am confused. The ALT0a hook says they made it. The lead says they claim to have made it. Yoninah (talk) 18:40, 19 August 2019 (UTC)
  • They made a bottle that fits through a letter box but claim to be first to do so. Advise please. Whispyhistory (talk) 19:44, 19 August 2019 (UTC)
  • They made a bottle designed to fit through a letter box. ALT0a was written that way -- with "designed" -- address the concern that the bottle might not actually fit through every letter box in the world, but that it was designed to fit through a letter box. The "claimed" in the lead was to address concerns that what the rs were saying was that the company claimed they were the first to have done this; that is, that the rs themselves weren't stating it as their own checked research. --valereee (talk) 20:00, 19 August 2019 (UTC)
  • OK. So I suggest putting the statement that they designed this bottle to fit through most letterboxes in the lead, and then repeat it in the body text, adding that they claim to be the first with this design. Yoninah (talk) 20:04, 19 August 2019 (UTC)
Done! --valereee (talk) 20:29, 19 August 2019 (UTC)
  • Thanks, but I re-did it for you. Restoring tick per Whispyhistory's review. Yoninah (talk) 21:33, 19 August 2019 (UTC)
