Hina Kino[edit]

  • ... that Hina Kino was inspired to become a voice actress after watching a talk show produced by the gaming magazine Famitsu?

  • Comment: Additional hook suggestions welcomed; the source I linked above has quite a bit of information about her that could work as hook materials, for example her calling anime "funny" or her being nervous and "practicing furiously" during her first role.

  • This article is new enough and long enough. The hook facts are cited inline and the hook is adequately interesting (I can see nothing better). The article is neutral and Earwig's tool showed no concern, but then its understanding of Japanese is no better than mine! A QPQ has been done. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 09:49, 8 November 2018 (UTC)
  • Hi, I came by to promote this, and I agree that something more hooky should be added to the article. The "funny" idea sounds good. Please suggest some alts. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 00:06, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
  • ALT1 ... that Japanese voice actress Hina Kino called anime "funny" prior to starting her acting career? Source: Same as ALT0 ("アニメってこんなに面白いんだ…と。")
  • ALT2 ... that Hina Kino called anime "funny" but later on became a voice actress for anime?
@Yoninah: The hook fact is currently not in the article, but I'll add it if you think that either ALT1 or ALT2 work. The word "面白い" can also be translated as "interesting" or "amusing", but "funny" appears to be an acceptable translation as well. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 00:16, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
  • @Narutolovehinata5: well, if she thought it was humorous or weird, then "funny" would work. But calling it amusing or interesting doesn't sound like she had a definite opinion of it. What about the "practicing furiously" hook? Yoninah (talk) 00:43, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
  • ALT3 ... that after becoming a voice actress after her third year of high school, Hina Kino would "practice furiously" for her first role?
  • ALT4 ... that Japanese voice actress Hina Kino described her preparation for her first role as "practicing furiously"?
@Yoninah: Source for both is this quote: ――その後、高校3年生から通った養成所を経て声優に。 . I feel that the wording might be awkward, so if you have any suggestions on how to rephrase, that would be helpful. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 00:54, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
@Yoninah: I suppose that works, you were able to word it better than I could. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 01:01, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
  • @Narutolovehinata5: BTW, could it be said she became a voice actress "in her senior year of high school"? Or are the grades different than in the US? Yoninah (talk) 01:04, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
@Yoninah: Japan's educational system is 6-3-3. And from what I recall, they don't normally use "senior year" there, or if they do, it's not as common as "third year" (and in any case, the source uses third year, so the wording would match that, in this case). Done. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 01:19, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
  • OK, thanks. Foreign-language hook ref AGF and cited inline. Approving ALT5, which is just a tweak of your proposed alt. Rest of review per Cwmhiraeth. ALT5 good to go. Yoninah (talk) 01:23, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
