Long enough and created in the seven-day window, but ... that long quote from the medal citation is causing serious copyvio issues. Yes, it's attributed and all, but I think, per MOS:QUOTE, it could be paraphrased, with occasional inline quotes, rather than blockquoted at length ("It is generally recommended that content be written in Wikipedia editors' own words. Consider paraphrasing quotations into plain and concise text when appropriate (while being aware that close paraphrasing can still violate copyright)."). Daniel Case please accept my sincere thanks for reviewing and approving this DYK. I discussed your concerns with other members of Wikiproject Military history at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Military_history/Indian_military_history_task_force#Award_citation_in_article and it seems that there is a precedent of keeping the citations. The Gazette from where the citation is sourced is released by Government of India as open license, so there are absolutely no copyvio concerns. As the consensus of this discussion suggests there are strong reasons for keeping the citation section as it is. IMHO the citation section presents the circumstances of his death and makes it interesting for the reader. So may I request you to kindly reconsider if you can approve this DYK with the award citation section as it is. DBig Xrayᗙ 18:19, 16 March 2019 (UTC)

@DBigXray: OK, I understand that copyright isn't a problem here, but even when that isn't a problem we still like to have most of our articles be written by us, as the quote from MOSQUOTE makes clear (We really don't want to encourage the sort of editor who thinks they can produce articles by copypasting primarily). If you really want, I could write a section summarizing that citation myself, quoting where necessary, but then someone else will have to give the final OK for this. Daniel Case, I understand your reason, but I believe the award citation can have an exception to this. I am still in strong disagreement with your suggestion to remove the quote but I agree to disagree and move on. I have yielded and based on your suggestion, converted the quote to prose so that the DYK can proceed. regards. DBig Xrayᗙ 09:20, 30 March 2019 (UTC)
