I've edited the article per the norms on Kosovo topics, so please avoid ownership claims etc. That being said, who is "Kostic (1922)"? Is he quoting an original source on the second claim?--— ZjarriRrethues — ^talk 13:10, 30 March 2013 (UTC)

I disagree. It is a pure way of inviting other Wikipedians to accept the propagandistic view of everything Kosovar being Serb. Please don't accept this nomination. Neutral Fair Guy (talk) 20:16, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

I am in agreement with the struck out part. There are multiple neutrality issues with the article and there were even more before such as when the Serb editors tried to sell the story that Republic of Serbia owned the fortress which is inside Kosovo. There is no ownership of landmarks plus that viewpoint evidently places Novo Brdo in Serbia as if to deny Kosovan statehood, sickeningly POV. This entry should not go out. It isn't reasonable. The DYK text pertains to a period when the town was part of the ancient Serbian kingdom, it is nothing to do with today's status. Evlekis (Евлекис) (argue) 17:24, 5 April 2013 (UTC)

The text isn't sourced by anything other than "Kostic (1922)". In fact, a quote from Kostic's primary source has been provided only for the first claim. Why should an outdated and possibly ideologically biased source be taken so lightly?--— ZjarriRrethues — ^talk 16:48, 7 April 2013 (UTC)

The article was expanded long enough, recently enough to the DYK submission. Also, the hook is short enough and interesting. It is, however, difficult to review this DYK and article because of the extensive citing of offline and foreign language sources. Also, I am unable to get an acceptable machine translation (even of low quality) of Naši novi gradovi na jugu - Novo Brdo with Google translate. (It would help to have a translation of this often cited source available.) Outside the leade section, I find no reference to Novo Brdo Fortress being the "mother of all Serbian cities" in the article. However, there are plenty of relevant mentions and a variety of references for gold and silver being mined from the area. Considering this, and the high level of contention that Serbia/Kosovo discussions can have, I propose the following alternative:

ALT1 = ... that Novo Brdo Fortress (pictured) was once known as a "mountain of gold and silver"?

Also, the article requires significant copyediting due to an almost overwhelming amount of English grammar problems (I can help fix some of these). If the alternate DYK hook is accepted and the English grammar problems are fixed, the submission should be ready for a {{subst:DYKtickAGF}}. - tucoxn\^talk 02:18, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

I made significant gramatical copyedits to the article, through the subsection on gates. I left one sentence in the "Lower town" section with a {{Copy edit-inline}} tag because I simply could not understand it. More copyedits also need to be made to bring the rest of the article up to par. - tucoxn\^talk 03:20, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

Per what we usually do here, every paragraph needs to have at least 1 inline citation. Towards the ends, that doesn't happen anymore. Especially claims about the fortress being sacked by freebooting archaeologists and the NAVO bombing of 1999 changing the game need to have at least one reliable ref. Besides that, there are many current references which give error messages in the references section. These need to be corrected.—♦♦ AMBER^(ЯʘCK) 21:30, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
