Raymond Crawfurd[edit]

  • ... that British physician Raymond Crawfurd, described how the royal touch cured scrofula? The best history of the disease from the eleventh century, when kings first began curing scrofulous victims by the power of their anointed touch, through the eighteenth century, is Raymond Crawfurd’s The King’s Evil.[1]
  • ALT1:... that British physician Raymond Crawfurd described the custom of touching for the King's evil?[2]

  • Article was created the same day it was nominated so fits within time limits. The article is long enough and well organised. I have taken the liberty of adding a couple of necessary capitalizations. Both hooks are sourced and short enough, although I prefer ALT1. The rest of the article is also thoroughly referenced. There are no images in the DYK hook, and the image in the article is being used under fair use. QPQ review conducted.
