Overall: An inline citation is needed at the end of the first paragraph in the Career section. On the fence about whether "In a fateful decision" is encyclopedic language. I don't see in the article where it supports "shortly". Ergo Sum 21:42, 28 August 2023 (UTC)

  • Ergo Sum, thanks for the review. (1) Re: the first paragraph in the career section, the paragraph is meant to be a mini-lede/summary of what to come. Anyway, I've added a couple of citations as asked. (2) Removed "In a fateful decision" with "At any rate". (3) Re: "shortly", I've rewritten the sentence. According to the chronicle, Hanthawaddy troops charged forward, blocked the gate doors from closing, and captured the fort. No additional fighting was reported. Please review again. Thanks.   • The end of the first paragraph still needs an inline citation. You can take the citation inside the explanatory footnote and reproduce it at the end of the sentence, then also use it as an inline citation at the end of the sentence inside the footnote. Indeed, all four of the explanatory footnotes lack inline citations at the ends of them. Also, the article does not clearly state that the battle came to an end with the subject's death.   • Ergo Sum, I've added two additional separate inline citations in the paragraph. The additional citations are those already mentioned in the associated note. As for the citations in the notes, those already have citations. Yo seem to be looking for superscripted citations in the notes themselves. For some reason, I can't nest citations within the notes. Anyway, I'm not sure why we need nested citations. I've used this format in successful GA norms as well as dozens of DYKs. No one has ever raised the issue.
  • As for the battle ending after his death, I've provided the citation that says Hanthawaddy troops got inside the fort after his death, and captured the fort. What I'm missing? Hybernator (talk) 23:15, 1 October 2023 (UTC)
  • Parenthetical referencing has been deprecated since 2020. Thus, the citation format used in the article would not pass GA muster, and certainly not FA. However, because DYK requires only basic compliance with WP's core rules and parenthetical referencing is deprecated but not banned, I think it suffices for DYK purposes. For future reference, you can use the Source Editor to insert a superscripted inline citation within an explanatory footnote.
  • One problem remains. There is still no inline citation at the end of the first paragraph in the "Early life" section. The explanatory footnote on its own is not adequate. The Efn begins with a parenthetical reference, but the way it is worded, it appears to support only the footnote itself. You must insert a duplicate citation at the end of the sentence to clearly support the half sibling statement, besides putting it in the footnote. That is part of WP's core citation policy. Once that is done, this hook can pass. Ergo Sum 15:26, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
