Vitus Bering[edit]

  • Reviewed: Väinö Koskela
  • Comment: My review of Väinö Koskela is currently "in progress", as it were, soon to be completed. I've just realised that this nom is in fact a few hours over the five days - I hope this isn't too much of an issue, since it's only ticked over because I was too busy to fill out the form, and it would be a shame to just miss out on these grounds. Happy to accept reviewer's decision, of course.

  • 5x expansion checks out. Hook is verified, although I don't find it particular interesting -- I think that a more interesting hook could be created about the dismal results of his early career. Most of the article is well-supported by footnotes, but the section "Sea voyage, death and achievements" is almost completely unsourced. The sourcing needs improvement. I haven't checked for plagiarism and close paraphrasing yet. --Orlady (talk) 04:19, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
    • Thanks for the review. I've now vastly improved the sourcing on the final section to avoid any criticism of it failing WP:V. I'm open to suggestions of new hooks; personally I find the one stated interesting, but that's just personal taste. Two suggestions of my own:

  • Article is fine now (sufficiently footnoted, my comparison of the article with the main source found no hint of plagiarism); the hook facts for ALT1 and ALT2 both check out. I prefer ALT1 -- hooks without a lot of details are more likely to grab the reader. --Orlady (talk) 13:03, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
Great. ALT1 is fine by me too. - Jarry1250 [Deliberation needed] 14:26, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
