"404 (not found)" [ERROR] message

[edit]

There might be some ("link rot"?) issue with the "http://www.motorcyclemuseum.org/halloffame/ [...]" website (e.g., see what happens when you click on THIS link: http://www.motorcyclemuseum.org/halloffame/detail.aspx?RacerID=198 , for example.)

But ... if that website is actually OK, then ... in that case, there might be some [other] issue, with the {{mhof}} template itself.

For more details, (feel free to) see the new "<ref>" tag added to Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, recently ... including the "edit comment" shown in this DIFF listing.

Thanks for listening. -- Mike Schwartz (talk) 10:43, 6 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like the website has added "hof." at the start of the URLs, e.g.
http://www.motorcyclemuseum.org/halloffame/detail.aspx?RacerID=198 gives "404 not found", but
http://hof.motorcyclemuseum.org/halloffame/detail.aspx?RacerID=198 takes you to J.C.Hoel's profile
I'll submit an edit request to have the template updated. DH85868993 (talk) 11:06, 6 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Change:

to

(i.e. replace "www" with "hof"), per the preceding discussion. DH85868993 (talk) 11:09, 6 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

To editors DH85868993 and Martin: this was one of those times when two people make the same edit at almost the same time. Martin's went through and I got an edit conflict when the template was renamed. Thinking that my edit had been logged, I came here to close this request. 'Twas Martin who gets the champagne for this one. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 12:10, 6 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
