User:Ariel Cetrone (WMDC)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Greetings! My name is Ariel and I am the Institutional Partnerships Manager for Wikimedia DC, a regional outreach organization for Wikipedia and the other projects of the Wikimedia Foundation.

In this role, I assist partners in Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware and throughout the United States with the planning and implementation of collaborative Wikipedia editing events such as Wikipedia editing workshops and edit-a-thons. During these events, individuals come together with the goal of improving Wikipedia's depth and accuracy in particular subject areas. These events are often themed or tied to a partner's current goals, collections, exhibitions or festivals. Training for new Wikipedia editors is frequently provided.

I have been with Wikimedia DC since 2017 and am the organization's sole employee.

Since April 2023, I have served as a lead within the North American Hub research project, a coordinated effort between Wikimedia DC, Wikimedia New York, and the NA hub committee to determine the feasibility of creating a hub to serve the US, Canada, Mexico and the Carribean. Learn more here.
