[edit]

Thank you very much for your support - my bid (as you probably know) went swimmingly. I couldn't have asked for a better one. Thank you very much and I just hope I don't mess up! You're one of the best Wikipedians around and when you run, I'm sure you'll get a record! --Celestianpower hablamé 12:30, 16 October 2005 (UTC)

Adminship

[edit]

Break? Ok, who are you trying to kid? :-) Looking at your edits from September 18 forward, you've consistently averaged >150 edits per day, and that average has only slightly slipped since the beginning of your supposed break. You've repeatedly denied people's requests to nominate you, yet would probably score a record vote if you were nominated. I understand and respect your desire to wait until December to be nominated, but I wonder what waiting until then will produce that is not already present now? I think you should allow a nomination to move forward. I don't really care who does it, I just think Wikipedia deserves having you as an admin, and the sooner the better. If you want me to nominate you, I'd be honored to do so. Even though I know you'll clear with flying colors, I'll still evaluate you against my standards to nominate. --Durin 20:12, 20 October 2005 (UTC)

  • I've adjusted my Wikibreak header to reflect reality. :-) With respect to adminship, there are other things outside of Wikipedia that I'm waiting to hear about which will also come around the beginning of December, so the timing works out for me on several levels. Besides, I am very happy with various projects here that fill my time adequately, and only rarely have been faced with a situation where admin powers would have been particularly helpful. I do deeply appreciate the thought, but I'll hold any decision for the next 42 days (which, trust me, will pass by in the blink of an eye).  BD2412 talk 20:53, 20 October 2005 (UTC)
  • 42 days, we'll have the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything then I suppose :) Fair enough, and I like the change in your header :) --Durin 21:53, 20 October 2005 (UTC)

Admin Nom for Alabamaboy

[edit]

I have posted my attempted template on his page. Sorry if I did not follow procedures, but my God, you guys make it difficult to try to give someone a thumbs up. Lemme know if I'll need to vote again, or will this register? Thanks, Iago Dali 21:59, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

Admin Nom

[edit]

I have tried to nominate you, but apparently before I can put a nom on the main page this admin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:BD2412 says that you need to accept before I can put in on the nom page. I will crosspost this to his page. If for no other reason, accept this nomination for all the effort I've gone thru to try and make a nom with these non-user-friendly templates. Let me know if I need to vote again. Iago Dali 21:56, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

  • Thanks for helping Iago Dali out and for giving me info on what to do about the admin nom. Best, --Alabamaboy 02:17, 23 October 2005 (UTC)

Not an admin?

[edit]

You're not an admin? Why on earth not? Ëvilphoenix 01:23, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

"A good egg"

Thank you so much for voting in my RfA, and especially thank you for supporting me. I really appreciate it, and will wield the mop and bucket the best way I know how. I, like RoboCop, promise four things:

  1. Serve the public trust
  2. Protect the innocent
  3. Uphold the law
  4. Classified

I hope to do all those things and, even if I can't keep my fourth classified, will do all I can to be a great admin. Stop by my talk page, or on article pages; I look forward to working with you. Thanks again, [[User:Mysekurity|Mysekurity]] [[additions | e-mail]] 01:18, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

Hi, I just want to thank you very much for supporting my RfA, and to say also that I hope I'll make a good job of it. I'm supposed to be working on an assignment at the moment, and had been reducing my Wikipedia activity, so delayed thanking people, but I'm finding the new rollback button so easy to use that I'm just keeping Wikipedia open on my browser while working on other things, and I thought I'd like to thank at least a few of those who supported me while I'm here. Cheers. AnnH (talk) 22:40, 26 November 2005 (UTC)

Thanx alot.

Thanks alot for reminding me about my Rfa ending date. I forgot to change it. I would very much appreatiate your support, Here is my My nomination.

Thanks!

[edit]

Having decided that thank you notes were in order, let me thank you BD! I have nothing but respect for you, as an editor and contributor to WP. I still remember you quoteing (I think Thomas Paine), when at one of the debates we've both participated in, you wrote "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it". I agreed with you then, and want you to know, that within the boundries of citable sources and civility, that both sides of an arguement should get an equal and balanced opportunity to, ahem, air their beefs... So, if this thing goes through, I'll be careful not to overstep or abuse my vested powers, promise. Hamster Sandwich 03:59, 29 November 2005 (UTC)

  • Thank you. I had, for various reasons, vowed not to consider an adminship until December, so you're a day early - I'll need a day or two to put together my responses in any event, so I suppose this works out. I should give you fair warning that you'll probably draw the ire (tho lighthearted ire) of a half-dozen or so folks who had vowed to nominate me around this time tomorrow. I shall do my best to avoid raising consternation through this process! Thanks again. BD2412 T 00:12, 30 November 2005 (UTC)
    • Well then, the next little adventure will be to see how much support racks up on your nom before you get around to accepting it. Dragons flight 01:19, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

I was wondering, why did you want to wait till December? Did you just want to be elected in the biggest landslide ever?! ;)

  • I was caught in traffic. Also, to be honest, I was waiting to hear from my firm whether they were going to hire me on a permanent basis (they did so last week) so I need no longer worry about where I'm going to work/live. I realize I still have a lot to learn, but then, I always will - the journey is the destination. BD2412 T 03:25, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

Your RfA

[edit]

To be moved later into the RfA archive...

BD2412... I fully support you in your bid for Admin. However, You don't seem to need my support, and since RfA is about the discussion, and not the votes, I will abstain from actually voting. I know this makes me a dick, but just know you have my support. A true Admin does not need his or her adminship validated by one lowly editors vote, and I'm sure you'll feel disappointed, but understand. Cheers. --LV (Dark Mark) 20:58, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for understanding. I have no doubt you'll be spectacular as an Admin. See you around, my friend. --LV (Dark Mark) 21:16, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

Hi,

Thanks for voting to support my RfA. I wasn't expecting an unopposed promotion (I thought I'd hit some die-hard edit-counters at least) and I'm touched by the trust shown in me. I'll try my best to continue to earn that trust. But first, I'll have to work on not sounding like a politician; that last sentence was awful. Oh well.
