Question regarding declined article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Challavaripalli

[edit]

Hi,

I saw that you have declined the article that I published because of references. I created this article about a rural village which doesn't have many references over internet, so I added the most reliable reference I can find on internet, which is about a school in this village. If this reference doesn't work I can't think of any other references that I can add. So can I publish this article without any references?.

Thank you for reviewing this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pch0807 (talkcontribs) 15:40, 6 January 2022 (UTC)

Draft: Ciel (musician)

[edit]

Hi there! My AfC on Ciel (musician) was rejected as there was not significant coverage of the subject. But there are several complete features from RS on her: a massive piece from Resident Advisor, a profile from Now Toronto, as well as several articles on her label, from MixMag, and two independent biographies from Mutek and RA. There's also a profile of her promotion and activism work as Diskwoman from TO Now.

There are also several reviews of her music: from Pitchfork and RA. The only citations she's mentioned in passing are best-of lists, but, that makes sense as it's a list of many artists -- but still worthwhile to demonstrate notability. To me, these citations demonstrate significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject. Do you have recommendations for improvement, or consider any of these citations as insufficient? Thanks for the review & appreciate any feedback! SiliconRed (talk) 13:13, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

@Siliconred:, Hello there, I guess the RA and Pitchfork pieces may take this topic to the right side of WP:MUSICIAN. I have accepted it now. Regards. Hitro talk 15:40, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
Fantastic, thank you! Appreciate your feedback and cleanup on the article. SiliconRed (talk) 15:44, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

WP:AFC Helper News

[edit]

Hello! I wanted to drop a quick note for all of our AFC participants; nothing huge and fancy like a newsletter, but a few points of interest.

  • AFCH will now show live previews of the comment to be left on a decline.
  • The template {{db-afc-move}} has been created - this template is similar to {{db-move}} when there is a redirect in the way of an acceptance, but specifically tells the patrolling admin to let you (the draft reviewer) take care of the actual move.

Short and sweet, but there's always more to discuss at WT:AFC. Stop on by, maybe review a draft on the way? Whether you're one of our top reviewers, or haven't reviewed in a while, I want to thank you for helping out in the past and in the future. Medical articles.

[edit]

Please read Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources (medicine). An article you just approved [1] not only fails to comply with the guideline, but makes claims regarding survival rates which are grossly misleading and potentially dangerous. AndyTheGrump (talk) 13:03, 26 February 2022 (UTC)

@Dsp13:, Hello there, the NYT source, that is inline with the claims, do not verify that the subject is a member of Egypt's Constituent Assembly. Please find a better source and resubmit the draft. Regards. Hitro talk 16:34, 26 February 2022 (UTC)

I have resubmitted the draft. I am not sure that just being a non-parliamentarian member without having significant coverage about political career, is enough for satisfying WP:NPOL or WP:GNG. Regards. Hitro talk 17:37, 26 February 2022 (UTC)

Draft:Peter Meso

[edit]

Hello Hitro,

I tried to fix the required corrections in the Draft:Peter Meso [[2]] according to your demands. 1. I deleted the names that weren't covered by relevant sources. 2. I removed all the references to Spotify. I would like to kindly ask you, if you can look at it again.

Please let me know, if now the article is formally acceptable.

If not, please let me know, what further changes specifically can I do to correct the article.

Thank you much.

Kindest regards,

Efron Efron Moshe (talk) 12:34, 27 February 2022 (UTC)

Hello Efron.
I reviewed the draft again, I do not think that notability has been demonstrated. Please see WP:GNG and WP:MUSICBIO and demonstrate notability accordingly. Most of the presented sources are not talking about the subject at all. For inclusion, reviewers look for significant coverage about the subject in multiple sources. You may notice that the first 3 references that you included in the draft do not discuss Peter Meso at all. Such references are not acceptable. Secondly, two of the sections are totally unsourced, you must include references to verify the claims made within those sections. Please make these improvements and then resubmit for review. Let me know, if you have more questions. Regards. Hitro talk 06:11, 1 March 2022 (UTC)

Hi there! I'm a fellow reviewer over at WP:AfC. I left a review on Draft:Uganda Internet Exchange Point and some follow-up commentary with the page creator (who has a COI) on its corresponding talk page. Reaching out to you to see if you'd be willing to offer a follow-up review or commentary, I am not sure whether the article should be accepted in its current state (I'm relatively new to the process of article review and this feels like a tough call). Totally understand if other works take priority or you'd prefer not to! Cheers, and thanks for your work in AfC -- great seeing your reviews there! SiliconRed (talk) 12:41, 27 February 2022 (UTC)

@SiliconRed:, Hello there,
I just reviewed and did some research on the topic. Broadly speaking, this maybe notable. Internet Society has a significant coverage on the topic here. However, COI & UPE stuffs keep me from accepting it. If you are satisfied with the tone of the article then you may accept it. Regards. Hitro talk 06:49, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for the commentary, will apply in a future review on the piece! SiliconRed (he/him) (talk) 11:38, 1 March 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for the information. I did add a notability link for the artist. In the year 2019 he had a Top 40 Chart song and a Top 100 Chart video, according to what you asked me to read on the guidelines for notability of people that is all I need to get approve and start off. As you know I'm fairly new to Wikipedia, please let me know if there, is something else I should add?

Citation bomb on new article draft

[edit]

Hello,

Thanks for the advise, as part of your comment below: :-)

Symbol opinion vote.svg Comment: Classic example of WP:REFBOMB. Hitro talk 18:55, 2 March 2022 (UTC)

Draft: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:GANSER_CRS_AG

May you please let me know how can I improve the draft?

The reason for the high number of citations:

I endeavoured to avoid the following :-), but I also wanted to substantiate my article, in order to avoid any controversy (possible when dealing with technological inventions) or bias (possible when dealing with private companies' allegations):

- Citations to work that the article's subject produced

- Citations that name drop reliable sources

- Citations lacking significant coverage

- Citations that verify random facts

However, as the research and development path of internal combustion engines and fuel injection is scattered with controversies (several inventors claiming that they are pioneers, sometimes in good faith, as they developed the same technology completely independently (without talking to each other), but simultaneously), therefore I tried to justify as much as I could when bringing about strong statements for example : "is the pioneer in common rail fuel injection systems, with the development from 1987 until 1992 of the very first diesel common rail fuel injection system in the world". Indeed, if you start calling someone a pioneer, you better prove and justify this allegation very well with independent and external sources.

My sample of citations which I would qualify as most important :

[1] https://ethz.ch/en/news-and-events/eth-news/news/2013/11/a-piece-of-eth-accompanies-diesel-cars.html => independent source + mention Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH Zurich) as cradle for the common rail technology + justifying other specifics: car model, field tests of 1993 at the conducted by the ETH Zurich.

[2] https://www.nzz.ch/article9QM0G-ld.310566?reduced=true => independent source + justifying the inventors of common rail being: Dr. Marco Ganser & Pr. Max Berchtold, as alumni and faculty of the ETH Zurich.

[3] https://www.ganser-crs.ch/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Auf-der-gleichen-Schiene.pdf => independent source + justifying the history of common rail + justifying the inventor oc common rail being: Dr. Marco Ganser/the Swiss company Ganser-Hydromag + justifying Alfa Romeo as first car with common rail + mention of the ETH Zurich as cradle for the common rail technology + mention of the first field tests carried out by the ETH Zurich in 1993.

[4] https://www.mtu-solutions.com/eu/en/stories/technology/research-development/how-does-common-rail-injection-work.html => independent source + justifying the use of an Engine model 4000 of the German company MTU, as first marine diesel large engine in the world to receive a common rail as fuel injection system (in series / mass production) => That's a confirmation from the engine manufacturer-side too.

[6] "Common Rail: Beiträge auch aus der Schweiz". Eurotax Auto-Information. No. 1270. 1997. p. 13. => independent source + justifying the inventor of common rail being: Dr. Marco Ganser.

[7] Common Rail Einspritzsysteme - Gegenwart und Zukunftspotential (in German). ETH Zurich, Reprozentrale Höngg: Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich | Institute for Energetics | Laboratory of Internal Combustion Engines and Combustion Technology (LVV) | Dr. Konstantinos Boulouchos. 1997. p. 26. => independent source + justifying that the patent right of use regarding the first common rail injector invented by Dr. Marco GANSER was ceded to the German company L'Orange GmbH, in order to equip the first marine large engine in the world with common rail technology (an Engine from the German company: MTU).

Along these citations, I used the two following sources as background canvas for the two first sections: Contribution to Common Rail and History, but strived to justify them with citations to avoid any bias, and also in order to check if what is being said on this website is reliable.

https://www.ganser-crs.ch/ganser-crs/geschichte/

https://www.ganser-crs.ch/values/common-rail-history/

If a citation was also cited on the website of the company Ganser, I always tried to find another independent source to avoid any bias (patents, article in the press, research articles, conference papers, etc.)

Hope that it helps. Please let me know. :-) Thank you. Pseudo-Welscher (talk) 08:37, 3 March 2022 (UTC)

Hello Hitro,

I re-drafted the article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Peter_Meso again. I would like to kindly ask you again for re-review. I deleted first three references, that were not part of the subject. I read your further instructions and tried to focus on notability together with adding relevant sources and references to each of the sections. I hope this version looks better now. Please, let me know, if this version is acceptable or if I can improve something.

Thank you much!

Hitro hi,

I'm Mariam the author of Softr's article on Wiki.

First of all thanks for giving great feedback with sources.

I've already checked them but would you be able to provide some examples, like websites, articles, magazines that Wikipedia defines as reliable

Hello Mariam, I suggest you to login before commenting, it will help the reviewers to check draft and logs. Please see WP:ORGCRITE, you will find all the details about accepted sources. Please know, the references covering seed funding, business listings, product launches, etc. are not considered acceptable. Apart from the these, the references from the official website are never considered reliable. You may also want to check WP:RS to know about reliable sources. Regards. Submission is about a musician or musical work not yet shown to meet notability guidelines I am not sure what you want here as proof.

Hello there,
Please see Wikipedia:Verifiability. You need to cite your sources with details related to publication. You can not just link to the scanned paper cuttings on the official website of the subject.
Secondly, you are required to demonstrate notability as per the criteria listed in WP:MUSICBIO or WP:GNG. Unless the notability is established, the draft will not be accepted.
Finally, you have written entire draft in red font with font size to be visibly large. I do not understand from where you got an idea that such formatting will be accepted. Please see Wikipedia:Manual of Style and specifically Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Text formatting & convert your font type, size and colour accordingly. Regards. Hitro talk 05:56, 22 March 2022 (UTC)

Draft:Brian W. Foster

[edit]

Hi Hitro! Thanks very much for the quick turnaround. What sources are you considering unreliable? I have 16 references listed, some of which are accepted references on Ashley Johnson. I'm happy to adjust but it will help if I can separate the wheat from the chaff...Thank you! 3shoggoth (talk) 20:01, 1 April 2022 (UTC)

Hello there,
For the start, sources from Twitter, Instagram, Goodreads are not deemed reliable. One reference to the Google Book is authored by the subject himself which is WP:PRIMARY and not useful. Other presented sources are not from any reputable or reliable news agencies except Paste Magazine. And Paste reference is just an album entry. It would have been better if the reviews of his works were used as sources. Please see WP:RS for more info on what sort of references are acceptable.
Quality of sources are quite different from that presented in Ashley Johnson's article. To be honest, the Brian does not appear to meet WP:PERSON or WP:NMUSICIAN. Unless notability is demonstrated, the draft won't be accepted. Regards. Hitro talk 06:48, 4 April 2022 (UTC)

Article reviewed declined

[edit]

Hello there,

I have just seen that you have declined my article on the basis of "not reliable sources". Since this article is about an actor who is not world-famous and comes from a small country, also unknown to most part of the world, there are not many references published online about the subject. The references that I have put are the only ones available online. Will the article be accepted if I take out all the references? I mean the article without references.

Thank you and God bless you.Holy Nepal (talk) 22:09, 5 April 2022 (UTC)

@Holy Nepal Hello there,
Please see WP:RS. IMDb and Wikipedia are not reliable sources. All of the 5 references presented in the article are either from IMDb or Wikipedia. This draft is not going to be accepted on the basis of these sources. An unreferenced article is not going to be accepted either. You are required to demonstrate notability per WP:GNG or WP:NACTOR. If the notability can not be demonstrated then it is futile to invest effort in the topic. Verifiability is one of the most important aspect of Wikipedia.

Draft: Dylan Bernard (Musician)

[edit]

Hello! I hope your week is off to a great start! Reaching out because my submission for Dylan Bernard (musician) was rejected for not significant coverage of the subject. However, Dylan has been featured in 50+ online and print media outlets including print features in the biggest teen magazines in the United States, Tiger Beat Magazine, J-14 Magazine, and Popstar! Magazine. While J-14 was a round-up feature, both Tiger Beat and Popstar fully profiled Bernard with featured interviews. At domestic radio, his single Forever for Now premiered on Radio Disney and was spun for two months. Internationally, his single "Higher" charted on WAVE 89.1FM in the Philippines for 4 weeks alongside Justin Bieber's "Yummy."

Dylan has also been interviewed and profiled on digital properties like EARMILK, Live Nation's Ones To Watch, Flaunt Magazine, Lyrical Lemonade, Tiger Beat, J-14, Popstar!, Radio Disney, M, TWIST, Just Jared, Just Jared Jr., Celeb Mix, DASH Radio, and countless others.

His debut EP was released through Instrumental, an indie label owned by Warner Music Group at the time, and his current releases have all been released in partnership with SoundCloud, where he is still currently releasing music.

In addition, he has written for major label artists like KEY of SHINee with SM Entertainment and Chinese Megastar Jackson Yee. Both of these placements came through Roc Nation.

Let me know if you have any advice on how I can articulate this better in the draft or if you have any other suggestions for revising. Either way, thank you for your time and consideration. Question regarding declined article for British hip hop group 2U4U

[edit]

Hi there - I hope you're well.

I'm just writing regarding your decision on the article which I drafted for the group which I manage. The decision claims that the references do not show significant coverage in published, reliable and secondary sources independent of the subject i.e. the group and I.

However, I've included numerous independent, secondary and respected mainstream and underground hip hop music publications not just from the UK (i.e. Wordplay, Word is Bond etc.), but globally also (Complex). Moreover, as noted in the article, the group's music has been licensed by Netflix for one of the most currently streamed programmes in the UK 'Top Boy' (reference: https://flixpatrol.com/top10/netflix/united-kingdom/). Similarly noted in the article, the group has received radio play across the UK on one of the most popular stations in the country, BBC Radio 1 (reference: https://yougov.co.uk/ratings/media/popularity/radio-stations/all). The group has also performed across the UK in major cities such as London and Birmingham.

For an indie group from a small town in the UK to have received such inter/national coverage for its music is an achievement, so we'd really appreciate the opportunity to document this on Wikipedia so that future generations of listeners of the group will be able to be inspired by this.

I hope this is helpful in overturning the initial decision. If not, I'd be grateful for your thoughts, and views on how I could amend the article in its current draft so that it better meets the requirements.

Thank you very much! — Preceding unsigned comment added by RobAt2U4U (talkcontribs) 19:01, 15 April 2022 (UTC)

@RobAt2U4U Hello there,
Most of the sources that you included do not show significant coverage. For draft acceptance at AfC the subject must meet WP:NBAND or WP:GNG. Please point out top three sources on the talk page of the draft. Reviewers will analyse those sources and take their decision based on them. Anyhow, I am not convinced that the subject is meeting notability guidelines of inclusion currently. Regards. Hitro talk 06:51, 16 April 2022 (UTC)
