If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Koza - Yitzak Suknik requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://1943.pl/en/artykul/koza-part-3-to-pick-the-time-and-place-of-our-deaths/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image โ€” which means allowing other people to use it for any reason โ€” then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Reply[edit]

You have an obvious conflict of interest, which you are required to declare. If you work for or on behalf of the museum, you you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at user:JSKutcher. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose โ€“ e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=JSKutcher|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please provide the required disclosure. Note that editing with a COI is discouraged, but permitted as long as it is declared. Concealing a COI can lead to a block. Please do not edit further until you respond to this message.

Bear in mind that you must edit as an individual, and also read the following regarding writing an article:

  • When you write an article, you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that they meet the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to an associated organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the person or organisation claims or interviewing them. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls.
  • Your text was almost entirely unsourced, and even the the source you copied from seems to be an essay or origianl research, with no indication of where facts come from
  • You must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews.
  • There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
  • You must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.
  • This is why your article was deleted. The copied page is clearly marked ยฉ 2022, so it can't be used here, it's obviously not PD or otherwise free to use for any purpose, as required here. Also note that the museum seems to be claiming copyright, so if the text is released, it must be clearly shown as such on that page, but in any case it's unsuitable in it's current form.

Your article had no wiklilinks, formatting or any attempt to comply with MOS, basically, it was just a dump of unsourced copyright text.

Before attempting to write an article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources. Also read Your first article. You must also reply to the COI request above. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 11:16, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

For legal reasons, copyright material cannot be hosted here even in a sandbox or draft, so your text needs to be self-written from the very start when you post your text, and it helps to have at least some formatting and refs so we can see that you know what you are doing. Have a look at Warsaw Ghetto to get some idea of what you are aiming for, even though you don't need to write at that length. I suggest that you create a draft page for your article when you are ready ([[Draft:your title]], and if you wish, I'll keep an eye on it. You may notice that the ghetto page has had to be protected from editing by new or unregistered users, and that may be necessary at some stage with your contribution Jimfbleak - talk to me? 11:51, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Jimfbleak,
I found this reply (by chance). Im afraid that finding my way around the communication system is extremely difficult and not clear to me.
However thank you for the remarks which now shed some light on the issue. I will get back to my co-author to see how we can proceed. Regards Jeff JSKutcher (talk) 21:05, 14 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Jimfbleak I've mentioned in my replies to Jeff on my talkpage about the method to Grant us permission to copy material already online if the website really is happy for us to use the text, and notified that if he keeps re-creating it in a way that violates copyright any administrator can delete it. Reply[edit]

Hello. I refer to your email message. As I explain on my talk page, I prefer to keep all discussions on-wiki for accountability reasons. I won't respond to further emails.

The article Koza - Yitzhak Suknik has been deleted. Whilst I personally pressed the delete button, the decision was taken by a community consensus at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Koza - Yitzhak Suknik, and not by me personally. The community's reasons for coming to this decision are at that page, which I see you have contributed to.

If you think I have not followed the deletion process correctly, you can file a request at Wikipedia:Deletion review, but I must inform you it is very unlikely that a request will be successful, because the discussion was unanimous other than for you.

We can also restore the article as a draft if you think you can overcome the reasons why it was deleted. If you'd like to do that, you can request it on my talk page or via WP:REFUND. Stifle (talk) 09:47, 20 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the speed reply Stifle.
My concerns and frustrations are as follows:
1. From the profiles of those who have supported the deletion I see no-one who is an expert or familiar with this area of history.
I have to assume that the volunteer editors are therefore following a set of guidelines/rules upon which they are making their decision. Which brings me to my next point.
2. The relative importance or unimportance of an individual in any historic event should be taken in context, and I have listed my reasons as to why Koza should be.
3. No-one has responded or counter-argued my (7) points for inclusion.
4. No-one has commented on the revisions I have made, reducing surrounding content & increasing references etc.
5. I would very much like to restore the article as a draft, But I need to know whether the changes I have made are in the right direction & whether the issue of the lack of importance of Koza will still be a stumbling block.
6. No disrespect to any editor, but I would very much appreciate feedback from one who is familiar with the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. Next year will be the 80th Anniversary of this event and I would like to make a contribution ideally on Wikipedia. Therefore any positive assistance would be most welcome
Thanks
Jeff JSKutcher (talk) 10:44, 20 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Being an expert is not a criterion we use on Wikipedia; the quality of the sources you provide is what matters. People are not obliged to counter-argue any or every point made. I have no idea what the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising is nor how to find anyone familiar with it.
I can action your request to move to draft. Stifle (talk) 10:50, 20 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The draft has been moved to Draft:Yitzhak Suknik for you. I removed "Koza" from the title as it is not customary to put nicknames in article titles unless needed to distinguish them from someone with a similar name, such as Pat "the Cope" Gallagher. Please note there is a 6-month expiry limit on drafts if left unedited, so after that it might be removed. Stifle (talk) 10:52, 20 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Firstly thanks for moving it to Draft.
I am happy to continue working on the page, as I do think it will be a useful / important addition.
I have made changes since the first warnings of deletion. However I have no idea whether the changes are sufficient or in the right direction ... or indeed what is deemed sufficient. How will I know thisย ? As an example, Yitzhak is written about in 5 books that I have read about the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising which I have included. Is this enough or will it always be a stumbling block?
Essentially I am at a loss of what is the ultimate criteria of completion. JSKutcher (talk) 16:13, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's not an area I can personally help with; please consider posting at Wikipedia:Teahouse. Stifle (talk) 13:20, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
