A Hypnotist's Journey to Atlantis : Eye Witness Accounts of Our Ancient History by Sarah Breskman Cosme[edit]

This is a novel that details hypnotherapy sessions wherein clients retell their memories of past lives that they claim to have had on the lost continents of Atlantis and Lemuria (which Sarah Breskman Cosme spells Lymuria). It was written and self-published in 2020 by Sarah Breskman Cosme, who is a Master Hypnotist that has achieved a Level 3 status in Dolores Cannon's QHHT. Due to the subject matter of her novels, they fall within the scope of pseudoarcheaology. She has three novels in her "A Hypnotist's Journey" series, which include the aforementioned novel, A Hypnotist's Journey to The Secrets of the Sphinx, which she published in 2021, and A Hypnotist's Journey from the Trail to the Star People, which she published in 2022. Hypnotherapy is a type of therapy in which a therapist gets their client(s) into a deep state of concentration and it is used to alter client behavior or work through whatever aspect of their life a client is concerned with, such as phobias of water that the client cannot trace the origins of or a general feeling of being stuck in their lives that the client does not understand the reasons behind. While hypnotherapy does have scientifically proven benefits as a therapeutic method in the treatment of various mental illnesses, the way it is used within the context of Dolores Cannon's QHHT methods leans more on the suggestibility aspect of hypnosis than any other aspect of the healing process. As a practitioner of Dolores Cannon's QHHT methods, Sarah Breskman Cosme's hypnotherapy techniques also heavily rely on the suggestibility aspect of hypnosis to help her clients overcome their concerns with aspects of their lives and heal their ailments that seem to not respond to traditional medical treatments.

Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique (QHHT)[edit]

Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique is a method of therapy that was first developed by Dolores Cannon in the 1970s. According to Dolores Cannon's methods, a QHHT therapy session includes getting a patient into a deep state of hypnosis and having them recount the various events of what appear to be past lives that the patient has lived through. According to Dolores Cannon's QHHT website and Sarah Breskman Cosme's A Hypnotist's Journey to Atlantis : Eye Witness Accounts of Our Ancient History, the highest level a QHHT Practitioner can achieve is Level 3, at which point they are considered a Master Hypnotist. Achieving this title means that a person has fully completed and passed all the available and required courses to practice QHHT therapy under this title. These courses can be found on Dolores Cannon's website and appear to be the only requirement of a person who wishes to complete the training to become a Master Hypnotist that practices QHHT therapy and who wishes to become a practitioner of the therapy, just as Sarah Breskman Cosme has.

In the QHHT sessions that Sarah Breskaman Cosme details in her novel A Hypnotist's Journey to Atlantis : Eye Witness Accounts of Our Ancient History, her patients recollect lifetimes that include being an Atlantean or Lemurian when their home continent of Atlantis or Lemuria (which Cosme spells Lymuria) was sunk by a giant wave. These past lives in Atlantis or Lemuria also often include memories of past lives spent as royalty in one or both of these civilizations and witnessing how the giant wave tore their kingdoms apart. Once a patient visits Sarah Breskman Cosme and completes the sessions that are necessary to fully acknowledge the traumatic events that they witnessed in these past lives in Atlantis or Lemuria, Cosme says that those patients will get in contact with her weeks later and say that their ailments, which appeared to have no traceable cause and to not respond well to traditional medical treatment, have suddenly remedied themselves. These ailments, to name a few from A Hypnotist's Journey to Atlants : Eye Witness Accounts of Our Ancient History, include phobias of water the patient does not understand the origins of, brain tumors or brain swelling, and a general feeling of being stuck in their lives (which seems to be depression) or other anxieties that are not phobia-specific.

Sarah Breskman Cosme's Education[edit]

Although Cosme appears to lack any formal training in archaeology or anthropology, according to her website, she did earn a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. Post-graduation, Cosme worked as a counselor in a half-way home for the mentally ill, where she claims to have seen first-hand that traditional talk therapy and medications were not serving the needs of the patients there. Somewhere along the lines in her education and work as a counselor in the half-way house, Cosme learned about hypnotherapy and how hypnosis could be used to provide therapeutic benefits to patients. After observing how talk therapy and medication failed the patients that she observed in the half-way house, Cosme pursued Dolores Cannon's methods of QHHT and earned the title of Master Hypnotist in 2009. Following this certification, Sarah Breskman Cosme studied under Dr. Brian Weiss to become a certified Past Life Regressionist. Cosme then went on to study with Dolores Cannon's daughter, Julia Cannon, to fully learn the methods of QHHT practice and how to become a practitioner of the therapy. On top of having her own QHHT practice, Sarah Breskman Cosme also travels the world alongside Julia Cannon to provide healing and teach the methods of QHHT therapy to other practitioners.

Other Sources on Atlantis, Lemuria, and Mu[edit]

The first and oldest story of Atlantis is in Plato's Critias and Plato's Timeaus. The literature that has since been published on that continent as well as other lost continents like Lemuria and Mu has become extremely popular because of the recurring phenomena known as New Age revivals. Some of the earliest authors on the subject of lost continents were members of the Theosophical Society, which was founded in 1875 by Helena "Madame" Blavatsky, Henry Steel Olcott, and William Quan Judge. Alongside the many publications from each of its founders on the three lost continents, other publications from other members of the Theosophical Society have also dealt with the lost continents of Atlantis, Lemuria and Mu. These publications include works from authors like Edgar Cayce and Ignatius Donnelly. Other early authors who have published on the subjects of Atlantis, Lemuria, or Mu are James Churchward and Frank Joseph. These are just some of the earliest publishers who were discussing the lost continents of Atlantis, Lemuria, and Mu and the elements of these supposedly extremely advanced societies and how the lessons that could be gleaned from the different societies could be applied to the society we live in today. There are countless other authors who still continue to publish material on these and other supposedly lost continents and civilizations that qualify as pseudoarchaeology today, and critical thinking is the most important tool a person can have to determine what is fake and what is real in these publications.
