Italicizing case names

[edit]

Hi, I see you're italicizing case names as in here and here. Please instead use the way Lquilter shows, as here. Makes the markup much more clear to edit. WP:NOTBROKEN discusses this in a different context, but the same idea: unnecessary piping is less clear. Thanks! TJRC (talk) 04:21, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch. I was using VisualEditor, and it appears that that was what was introducing the strange italicizing. I'll clean up the links right away... Michael Barera (talk) 05:12, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Done As Han Solo once said, sorry about the mess. Michael Barera (talk) 05:17, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. It's a small thing, after all. Thanks for going in and fixing it.
I haven't tried the visual editor in a long time. Last time I did, I quickly ran away screaming. maybe I'm just old-fashioned. TJRC (talk) 17:37, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Overall, I really do like the VisualEditor, but I wasn't aware of the issue with italics. I'll be careful about this in the future. Switching from VisualEditor to Wiki markup whenever I'm working with italics (or bold, in all likelihood) is probably the best idea. Michael Barera (talk) 21:12, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A gummi bear holding a sign that says "Thank you"
Thank you for using VisualEditor and sharing your ideas with the developers.

Hello, Michael Barera,

The Editing team is asking very experienced editors like you for your help with VisualEditor. The team has a list of top-priority problems, but they also want to hear about small problems. These problems may make editing less fun, take too much of your time, or be as annoying as a paper cut. The Editing team wants to hear about and fix these small things, too.

You can share your thoughts by clicking this link. You may respond to this quick, simple, anonymous survey in your own language. If you take the survey, then you agree your responses may be used in accordance with these terms. This survey is powered by Qualtrics and their use of your information is governed by their privacy policy.

More information (including a translateable list of the questions) is posted on wiki at mw:VisualEditor/Survey 2015. If you have questions, or prefer to respond on-wiki, then please leave a message on the survey's talk page.

Thank you, Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 20:09, 12 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the invitation, Whatamidoing. I've now already completed the survey! Michael Barera (talk) 20:20, 12 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I just came across your DYK review and added my comments. I was surprised that the nominator, a frequently DYK contributor, hadn't responded in over a week. Then I noticed that you didn't leave a note on his talk page. Above the edit box, right after the different colored DYK ticks, is a code that includes the name of the article that you're reviewing, which should be placed on the nominator's talk page to inform him/her that there is a problem with the article. In this case, the code is {{subst:DYKproblem|Claudico|header=yes|sig=yes}}. I placed it on the nominator's talk page after posting my review, and expect we will hear from him shortly. Best, Yoninah (talk) 19:38, 2 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the tip regarding {{DYKproblem}}. Sorry about omitting that. To this point, I had just assumed that all nominators watchlisted their DYK nominations, as is recommended. Sorry again about my oversight. Michael Barera (talk) 19:48, 2 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Uchcha Harv Error script

[edit]

Michael, I recommend you add User:Ucucha/HarvErrors to your common.js. And what that does, is give you visual big red error messages if your Harvard template citations have errors. Since User:Michael Barera/common.js pulls up as a red link here, it appears you have never added anything to it. Just open the red link and add:

importScript('User:Ucucha/HarvErrors.js');

Then save the page. That should take care of it. I think it will serve you well in future editing. — Maile (talk) 23:19, 13 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Maile66. This was the first time I've tried using Harvard style citations, but hopefully not the last. Thanks for the tip! Michael Barera (talk) 03:10, 14 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hello. When you add File:TAMUC Lions logo.png to a new article, please make sure you add a Template:Non-free use rationale logo template to it. All you need to do is go to the file page and copy and paste one that is already there, and replace the article name with the new article name. If you don't do this, another user will comment it out from the article under WP:NFCC#10c. I haven't done the softball article yet, so I will leave that for you.
