I was born in Edinburgh, went to George Heriot's School, and then studied Physics at Southampton University. I worked at the Atomic Energy Research Establishment, doing various things until I retired in 2015, following Renal Failure in 2013.

I am interested in Science, Free Software (particularly Debian), Oxford Phab, gardening, walking and reading widely.

I edit Wikipedia where I find there are gaps in coverage which I feel are significant, or where I know the information is incorrect. I value the transparent and open aims of Wikipedia.
