1962 Mexico City radiation accident[edit]

In this article I found just a few details about this accident. There is only one comment in the talk page, and it was in 2012. I would like to add more information and specific details about this accident. Where exactly was this event? How did this boy to take this important piece of material to his home? What happened with his father after he survived to this accident?. The title of this article is interesting, but I can't find more information to improve it.

Asociación de los Escritores en Lenguas Indígenas[edit]

The title of this article is in Spanish, but I found it in the English language section. This article has only one sentence. Also, it doesn't have any references or comments in the talk page. I have many questions about this organization. When was it funded? Which languages does it represent? Which is the main purpose of this organization? I found this source with details of this organization: www.nacionmulticultural.unam.mxI think that it is a reliable source. I have some ideas to improve this article. First, I would like to change the title to English, but of course I will keep the Spanish name of this organization in one of the paragraphs. Also, I found information about their background, when and why it was created, and how many languages they represent. www.elem.mx/institucion

PROFECO[edit]

This article just has few information about this organization in Mexico. It doesn't cite any source and doesn't have comments in the talk page. Because it is an important government organization in Mexico, I'm sure that there are more details to add to this article. Where is the main office of PROFECO? What are the principal objectives of this organization? They have their own web site and I found good information on it. www.profeco.gob.mx www.gob.mx/profeco Also this page has some details. www.aicm.com.mx/dependecias/profeco link.galegroup.com.ccclibrary

The article[edit]

The title of the first article was interesting for me. When I read the title, I immediately wanted to know more about this incident. It was my first option to edit because like me, maybe many people would like to know more details about this accident. But it was impossible to find more information about this accident. On the contrary, with the others two articles I think that I found important information to add to them and improve them. But I decided to work on the article of PROFECO because I think that it is an important organization from Mexico and it needs to be better. I found good information to improve it. I'm going to add more details about this organization and I will be the first one to cite the sources and to comment in their talk page.

PROFECO article (ROUGH DRAFT)[edit]

The Procuraduría Federal del Consumidor, or Office of the Federal Prosecutor for the Consumer (PROFECO, for short) is an organization of the Mexican government, depending on the Attorney General. Mexico became the second Latin American nation to pass a Federal Consumer Protection Law, on February 5, 1976, and later became the first to create an Office for the Prosecutor.[1] By 1982, the Office had 32 representations, one in each state and one in the Federal District. PROFECO has in total of 51 offices all over the republic and their main office is in Mexico City.[1] The most recent reform of this federal law was signed by the Mexican president Enrique Peña Nieto at the beginning of 2018.[2]

PROFECO works together with other organizations like CPSC (U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission) from U.S. and Health Canada from Canada to guarantee that imported products are safe for the consumers.[3] On February of 2018, the representatives of these three organization met in U.S. to sign a Memorandum of understanding (MOU). With this agreement these three countries compromised to ensure the quality of imported products for south and north America consumers.[4] The representative of PROFECO in this meeting was the attorney Rogelio Cerda Perez, who is the federal consumer attorney since august of 2017.[5]

OBJECTIVES [6][7][edit]

  • Protect consumers against abuses or fraud by companies operating in Mexico.
  • Provide information about the products to help the consumers make good decision when they need to buy them.
  • Inform the community about their rights and obligations as consumers.
  • Create and put in practice new methods to provide prompt and accessible attention for consumers using the technology.

ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS[edit]

  • "The Good End" (El Buen Fin ). With this program PROFECO promotes the consumption of Mexicans to restore the economy in this country, but at the same time to help the consumers to buy everything that they need in a very low price. [8]
  • "Who is Who on the Prices" (Quien es Quien en los Precios (QQP)). In this program PROFECO collects information about prices of products that consumers buy regularly. They make a list comparing the prices of these products at different stores, and share this information with the consumers to help them decide where is the best place to buy.[9]
  • Consumer magazine. FROFECO publishes this magazine each month for more than 40 years.[10] In this magazine consumers will find a wide variety of information about the daily life. Like comparative of products, recipes, studies and alerts.[11]
