From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The English version of Wikipedia is severely contaminated with the huge, ugly templates on top of many articles. When visiting an interesting article, the reader is often first confronted with those templates, crying for attention:

  • This article does not cite any references or sources.
  • This article may require cleanup to meet Wikipedia's quality standards.

etcetera. This category contains just a part of the dirt that is poured upon our articles.

Apparently, the editors who place these templates are not aware that the readers are not at all interested in those improvement comments. The reader just wants information. In one view, the reader should be able to determine whether an article contains the information he searches. For the readers, those templates are nothing than disturbing.

I will not reckless remove all templates, but I will look critically whether they are really needed for the reader. I will not bother about templates on articles filled with trivialities or non-encyclopedical nonsense, but I search to improve the readability of the high-quality articles that this Wikipedia often provides.
