Re-using references

[edit]

1256wiki, I am somewhat baffled that you don't seem to know how to re-use an already defined reference. All that busywork at blue iguana could have been avoided by just changing the name of the first definition (in the taxobox) to lowercase "iucn", as that was what every other repeat of the source was already referring to ("name=iucn/"). Instead, your edits recreated the source half dozen times, leading to half a dozen separate and superfluous entries in the reference list. I have seen you do this in several other articles as well. Could you please review WP:NAMEDREFS to avoid making unnecessary work for other editors? Cheers --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 08:43, 16 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

1256wiki - I really don't know what to to do to get this through to you. You. Don't. Have. To. Reinsert. The. Entire! Reference! Every. Time. You. Reuse. It!!!! Just refer to the name given to it in the first instance, e.g. "<ref name=iucn/>" - with the backslash. There. That does it. Now could you please stop adding bloat to pages and messing up the reflists? --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 07:49, 5 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't mindlessly paste images into articles

[edit]

I'm not sure what you think you are doing, but it certainly can't involve taking the least care to produce a well laid-out article... what was the idea of turning Drill (animal) into this [1]? Don't you even check where all the images end up? If you want to add images, please make sure you don't break the layout six ways! I've seen at least half a dozen of these exercises by you. C'mon man... --Elmidae (talk · contribs)

I feel like I'm talking to a wall here... what do you think that image-bombing affair at Northern white-cheeked gibbon looked like, other than a bunch of pictures messily trailing in the wake of the text? --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 21:30, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2017 election voter message

[edit]

Hello, 1256wiki. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

stop disruptive editing to giraffe pages

[edit]
Stop icon

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DerekELee (talkcontribs) 08:21, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I sincerely apologize for the devastating editing of the "giraffe" text and my constant refusal to communicate. If you block the address later, I'll be careful when editing the document now.

Decline reason:

I'm sorry, but given your long history of unconstructive edits, and inability to communicate, I need greater specifics as to what you will or will not do. The problems go far beyond giraffes. It isn't the subject but the nature of your edits, and a vague assurance of being more careful is not going to suffice. --Dlohcierekim (talk) 09:40, 29 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your unblock request is still barely coherent. ko.wp is a completely separate project from en.wp, with its own community and policies; blocks aren't for all projects unless there is evidence of severe abuse across multiple projects (which is far from the case here). As long as your English skills amount to using automated translation (which has a habit of mangling English-to-East-Asian-languages and vice-versa) it's highly doubtful you will be unblocked on the English-language Wikipedia. This block has zero bearing on your ability to edit the Korean-language Wikipedia, and likewise your ability to edit the Korean-language Wikipedia will not be a factor in this block, which is based almost entirely on your poor command of the English language. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 19:37, 20 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Please read -revi's message below. At this point we are unable to unblock you here as we require a certain level of proficiency in English as this is a collaborative project. I would suggest that you contribute to the Korean Wikipedia and understand the way the Wiki works and then after a few months if you can show that you'll be able to communicate here effectively and can understand and adhere to our policies and guidelines, then apply for an unblock. Please see WP:SO for an explanation in English. —SpacemanSpiff 11:20, 10 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your English-language proficiency is the issue here, and no argument you're making helps that - if anything, your arguments are only proving the block is justified, as they have all been in broken English. This is the most coherent request I have seen yet, but there's still a considerable concern about your ability to read/write in English. Again, this is not about refusing to communicate; it's about inability to.
Refresh

[edit]
