You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  ~ ToBeFree (talk) 23:28, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • @ToBeFree: I'm not sure that this was a good block; this IP was reverting disruptive edits by a user who would go on to get themselves blocked for legal threats, as I know you're aware. I'm sure the bright-line cross could have been looked past under WP:3RRNO? ― "Ghost of Dan Gurney" (talk)  14:57, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello GhostOfDanGurney, thanks for raising this concern. I understand what you mean, but I disagree relatively strongly. 185.178.71.138 has restored content to a biography of a living person without discussion, which by itself is already problematic (WP:BLPRESTORE, WP:ONUS). There is an edit warring exception for the removal of some BLP content, not for its addition. Most legal threats are the result of (misguided) good-faith concerns, so taking them as evidence of vandalism in hindsight would be neither logically nor chronologically correct. Edit warring is disruptive even if it reverts other disruptive edits, and disruptive editing is not a listed exception for a simple reason: Everyone thinks they're right. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 23:38, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the thorough explanation ToBeFree! ― "Ghost of Dan Gurney" (talk)  00:18, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
