Information icon Hello, I'm AntiDionysius. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Francis Kioyo have been undone because they did not appear constructive. @AntiDionysius Our club was founded as SpVgg Fürth. In 1996, we joined TSV Vestenbergsgreuth for financial reasons. This club re-established itself 12 years later.
We have a campaign underway to rename the club. As the Fürth fan scene, we do not accept abbreviations like "Greuther Fürth".
It is simply wrong that the majority of the club is known as "Greuther Fürth".
This does not reflect the longest time of its foundation, the club has always become 3 x German champion in football as SpVgg Fürth.
You won't understand how it feels to be labelled under a name that ridicules our club. That's why the change was made and our campaign is working to have this changed in the entire Wikipedia. There are many articles in English. Please change this out of respect for our club.
The full name is the official name "SpVgg Greuther Fürth". The short name is a cheek. Since SpVgg Fürth was never dissolved, there was no merger. 186.116.227.142 (talk) 03:13, 13 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia follows what reliable sources say. If you can cite reliable sources (probably in the first instance on the SpVgg Greuther Fürth article) that "SpVgg Fürth" is a very common nickname for the club, then it would be appropriate to change it in other articles, but until you do that, please do not change it.
