Response to comment on The Signpost op-ed

[edit]

Hi there, thank you for your comment on my op-ed for The Signpost. In response to your question, I did intend to write a community-focused article about OpIndia's interactions with Wikipedia, but privacy concerns related to the subject matter prevented me from doing so. Fortunately, a writer for The Caravan did a much better job than I could have done on my own. The piece was published just over a week ago at "The Edit Wars: How Wikipedia earned the ire of the Hindu Right". Unfortunately, it is paywalled.

A more general analysis of India's media landscape would be difficult without high-quality data. We are fortunate to have an abundance of data on the American media landscape, but the available research for India is much more limited. I'm always on the lookout for detailed research on journalism, and if you have anything to share, please feel free to contact me on my talk page. — Newslinger talk 11:20, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again, Newslinger, and thanks for your response (and the link to the news article (I can't access it but I'll keep it bookmarked for when I choose to subscribe to them)). (It is a funny coincidence that I returned to this IP address after hopping a few times over the last few days in my IP range due to power outages, just in time to see this) I agree that it is a shame that India doesn't have any in depth analyses on news and misinformation, but if you would like to see an attempt at an analysis, you may have to wait till August or September 2021 (or maybe later depending on my availability). I was considering creating a voluntary group to research on which Indian news sites have the most misinformation in their articles partially as a hobby and partially to get back at the fake news sites (I'll admit that I don't have any qualifications as a journalist, but something is better than nothing and I can always convince some experts on journalism to help) but life will be in my way at least till June. Hopefully I'll still be interested in my plan in June. :-P 45.251.33.78 (talk) 13:22, 10 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Please do continue with your research. I'm interested in your findings. You can always reach me on my talk page if you would like to share anything. Thanks for taking this initiative. — Newslinger talk 22:41, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in The Angry Birds Movie, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. WP:FILMPLOT Chompy Ace 22:14, 15 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
