Well I had to because the battle was located at near Firth of Forth and Ecgfirth’s Wikipedia page can also prove it, it is true and the number of forces Ecgfirth I or Ecgfrith had and drest VI had were also true. 91.110.142.194 (talk) 18:05, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Actually his Wiki page does not prove that, as that too is uncited. The information does not state where the battle took place, only that the actions during the battle "resulted in the Northumbrians taking control of the land between the Firth of Forth and the Tweed for the next fourteen years."

Alongside that, WP:CIRCULAR exists, you cannot use Wikipedia as a source for another page. If you wish to add this information again, you can add a citation. If you do not add a citation, it will be reverted.

Without citations you cannot add this information. You can tell me that it's true, you can tell anyone that it's true, but that's covered under original research, something that also isn't permissible.

Page protection for Battle of Two Rivers and Battle of Chester[edit]

I've removed full page protection for both of these articles and put them on pending changes instead. I suggest you seek consensus on the talk pages of the articles before attempting to insert numbers of combatants. It would also be a good idea to register an account on WP for further editing. I think an indefinite block for WP:CIR is going to be inevitable here. It's not fun to block an obviously enthusiastic editor, but there are no references that support the information you keep trying to insert into these battle articles. Well, no reply yet, which is a little disappointing. It did look like you were trying to cite The Life of St Wilfrid, which is our only source for this battle. The following is the entirety of what that document contains pertaining to it. As you can see, there is no reference to the location of the battle (if it did actually happen) or the strength of the forces involved:

For in his early years, while the kingdom was still weak, the bestial tribes of the Picts had a fierce contempt for subjugation to the Saxon and threatened to throw off from themselves the yoke of slavery; they gathered together innumberable tribes from every nook and corner in the north, and as a swarm of ants in the summer sweeping from their hills heap up a mound to protect their tottering house. When King Ecgfrith heard this, lowly as he was among his own people and magnanimous towards his enemies, he forthwith got together a troop of horsemen, for he was no lover of belated operations; and trusting in God like Judas Maccabaeus and assisted by the brave sub-king, Beornhaeth, he attacked with his little band of God's people an enemy host which was vast and moreover concealed.
