June 2024[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Path slopu. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Shiv Dayal Singh—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. PATH SLOPU 12:02, 22 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

First of all the wikipedia created of soami ji maharaj with his parental name i.e, considered as unrespectable name for incarnation , at least you must use respectable terminology at other place in this wikipedia page. My edit was more constructive than your revert. ARCH DAS (talk) 12:12, 22 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, we use the WP:COMMONNAME and do not use honorifics, see WP:NCIN. Hence, lord, shree, maharaj, ji, etc are not used in Wikipedia. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 12:18, 22 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In that , There should be change in policy . what about Guru Nanak, Guru Angad , Guru is not the common name. And There such so many wikipedia page use honorfic word only. e.g, Premanand Ji Maharaj , its not his name while honorfic the wikipedia page etc. Shiv Dayal singh was not his common name , its his parental name. Most people even dont know the name 'Shiv Dayal' . His name was soami ji maharaj only , the only common name. scroll any of the radhasoami sect website. ARCH DAS (talk) 12:31, 22 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Guru Nanak, Guru Angad are proven to be the most used names in the WP:Independent (not associated with the particular faith) third-party reliable English literature, hence WP:COMMONNAMES. Which doesn't seem to be the case with Shiv Dayal Singh skimming through scholarly books in the internet, which is why the article(s) is named that way. "Radhasoami sect" would not be independent third-party source here. Secondly, honorifics are allowed when the WP:COMMONNAME uses that in third-party reliable sources. And if the article name doesn't use it, do not add them honorifics in articles per MOS:HON WP:NCIN. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 10:56, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Formatting and honorifics[edit]

Do not add honorifics to names, see WP:NCIN MOS:HON policies. Also do not use bold, see MOS:BOLDFACE. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 12:15, 22 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
