Hottest Destination?
Hi, quoting articles or reviews or opinions from Rediff.com does not make anything hotter than the others. Please get some valid references and stop the war. Don't waste everyone's time. Do you have some statistics to prove that a city is the hottest? Wait, are you gonna check with the MET dept? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mountainwhiskey (talk • contribs) 11:41, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- Hello Mountainwhiskey, Thanks for you time to drop me a message seeking clarification. Please read the citation I have given in the article. It is not from rediff. It is from Kerala Planning Board report, which is a valid citation. Also, no where in the article it is mentioned that the city is the "hottest". I wonder from where you got that info!! I am an active wikipedian since 4 years, and am well aware about the policies and unbiased writing. Further, no one can waste your time, unless you decide to do so. You also can be polite when dropping messages to any one :-) Cheers, -- Rajith Mohan (Talk to me..) 08:08, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
Hi Rajith,
Congrats for spending 4 long years on Wiki and making this a better place to live ;). BTW, at the time of talking to you, the page did say "4th hottest destination" and had a Rediff link pointing to the same. Now that it has been corrected, well and good. I hope your many years of Wiki-experience could be useful in stopping the many vandals on these pages. Cheers - Whiskey in the Mountains :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mountainwhiskey (talk • contribs) 06:04, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
- It was never said in the article that it was "Hottest destination". if you found so, please provide the diff from the History. I am doing my best to stop vandals. Btw, vandals are not big problem; the real problem is people stepping in with a strong and biased POV in favour of or against some places. It is very hard to educate them :-) Cheers, -- Rajith Mohan (Talk to me..) 09:29, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
Trivandrum central
Your edit on Trivandrum Central was reverted:[1]. You have mentioned in your edit summary, "Its a news letter only. Officially Shoranur junction is the largest railway station in kerla" . I am afraid, this is not a valid point. You cannot remove cited sources without providing a better or accurate reason. Cheers, -- Rajith Mohan (Talk to me..) 08:20, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
From where u get the information "tvc is the largest railway stn in kerala.". It may be depends on number of passengers. Its because of no other major railway station in TVM like other cities. Even our psc exams qstns, the answer is shoranur and everybody knws it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bijuts (talk • contribs) 08:39, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
- Dear Biju, What you are saying may be true from your perspective. But how are you going to prove it in wikipedia? In wiki, information is arranged and added with references to valid sources. Please go through WP:Citing sources. Your claim falls under "Weasel words". Wikipedia prohibits that. If you have a more reliable source, say from the Railway website, I would be happy to add your reference to state that Shornur Junction is the biggest in Kerala. Cheers, -- Rajith Mohan (Talk to me..) 08:59, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
NB: Please note that I am not biased or in favour of any particular article or place.

José Paranhos, Viscount of Rio Branco is now a FAC
Hi, I am the same editor who wrote Pedro II of Brazil and I've nominated another article, José Paranhos, Viscount of Rio Branco, as a FAC. It is about a 19th century Brazilian statesman and is closely related to Pedro II's life. If you enjoyed the Emperor's article I believe you might enjoy this one. Thus, I'd like to see your opinion on whether you would support or oppose its nomination. Your intervention needed on edit war
Aarem, you are a senior editor, and someone very much involved with the TVM page. Could you please intervene and do something to control the out of control editors?
Yourself, Binoy and LowerFourth have conceded that the Hindu report is inadmissible as ref. Now, war is going on with id and ips, and users are trying to fillibuster the edit. I moved WP:RFC, and am staying off till that is resolved. But people are not taking the RFC process in good faith, and continuing the war. I believe if you intervene, it would stop, since you could not be accused of bias.
DileepKS(talk) 05:50, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
- Dileep, I have made an edit-warring report. My intervention at this point may not help; as there are lot of anon IPs involved. Hence, I am staying out of the mess. The page will be semi-protected soon, which will not allow non-registered users to edit. Cheers, -- Aarem (Talk) 06:38, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
You forgot to report Induzcreed and Sudheesh s, who actually started the war after we reached consensus. I believe the IPs belong to them. Could you add those editors as well to your report please?
A semi-protection is good option. Still, the core issue remains, which is some editors filibustering the discussion despite clear evidence. I still believe, after the semi-protect, you could intervene and end the issue. I don't think any of the editors will question your call.
DileepKS(talk) 06:50, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
- I have included Induzcreed also. Sudheesh s is a new user, and I believe his IP is 49.14.77.249. Anyways, if he is also involved, that could be tracked. If the article is semi-protected, both un-registered users and new users cannot edit the page. -- Aarem (Talk) 06:56, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
ALLEGATION OF IP EDIT WARS/SOCK ETC - MARCH 2011
With Reference to your Allegation and Request to BLOCK me and several others on the Admin Page - Let me clarify that I have not used any other ID or IP to participate in the alleged EDIT war on the Thiruvanathapuram page. In fact I was one of the first people to alert User:Toddst1 about the EDIT wars. It is true that there is a difference of opinion but we have all talked openly on the TALK pages and I do not see the need to involve in an anonymous EDIT WAR as you have made it out to be. I think I have learned enough here (the rules) to not involve myself in an anonymous IP edit war. Anyways, let us leave it to the admins to figure out who did what. I hope they have the time and energy to go through the several IPs and what belongs to whom! Cheers and wonder why you do not pop up on the pages especially being a senior editor! :-) - MountainWhiskey (talk) 06:14, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
- Surprising to know that you are tracking my contributions all the time :-)
- I did not tell that it was your sock IPs. I just made a report on the ongoing war, and listed down all the editors who were involved in the topic under dispute. The nature of revisions from all the users and IPs were the same. It is not against you; and it will help you in a positive way, if you are not involved in those frequent revisions. So, please do not take that as an allegation against you.
- I am not interested to waste my time in juvenile fights, and that is the reason of not poping up there. -- Aarem (Talk) 06:29, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply, Aarem. No, I am not tracking your contributions :-). But I was checking if you were IDLE coz your intervention is desperately needed on the TRV page. It was in this context that I saw your post on the Admin page. Interestingly, User: Samaleks has made the same allegation against me and others. I must admit I am involved in the discussion and I have only made my opinions and not involved in a war, especially the one that is currently going on. I have made my POV and now there are several people out there who do not believe in the POVs made in the discussions and of course the others who believe in the POVs and they are at war. Ugly and could cause the page to be blocked. I have also put up a request on Toddst's page. Let us see what comes of it. - MountainWhiskey (talk) 06:42, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
Why you avoid lower4th and Binoy in block request to admin? Or are you little biased on tvm? --Bijuts (talk) 10:46, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
- Ha Ha.. I reported only those editors who got involved in the current revisions (airport related). The said two users were not involved in this current edit-war. Hence, I did not mention them. Anyways, if they are also involved using anonymous IPs, it could be easily tracked down by the investigating Admin. So, be cool :-) -- Aarem (Talk) 12:24, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
It is not me, but the users with Di lep KS as the leader, is doing the edit-warring. Mantanwhiskey is the arrogant chap in their team, and Biju kuttan is the ignorant chap. DileepKS (KS seems to be an interesting acronym :-D ) is triggering all these planned edit-wars from behind the curtain. He wants to try to push his POV which is STRONGLY in favor of KOCHI and AGAINST TRIVANDRUM. Hence, he is trying to remove facts (those are holding valid citations). --Samaleks (talk) 16:26, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

Recent reverts in Kerala
If so, the adjective "Evergreen city of India" should not be used for Trivandrum. Why not removing that term? The neutral point of view policy is applicable to you also.

Templates for Railway divisions and networks
Thanks for your co-operation dear Arem. Will improve whenever I get time. Also please note from Vallatholnagar to Kanyakumari falls under TVC division, not in PGT division. You put wrong templates in Angamaly, ERS, AWY railway stations. The Chennai – Trivandrum Superfast Express nominated for deletion. If you can, put some notable informations. And if you are interested please go through the Alleppey Express talk page.

Commercial Capital
You just reverted the edit without any comments. All should be neutral regarding all the articles. For eg: the adjective "Evergreen city of India" is used for Trivandrum, "Garden city and Pensioners paradise for Bangalore, "Manchester of India" for Coimbatore etc., in the INTRODUCTION itself. Why coming with arguments against Kochi only? My question is very simple. What is wrong with adding the term "Commercial Capital of Kerala" in the introdction of Kochi page? Asking the same to you? Or are you little biased? Expect a healthy reply from you than silly useless arguments. --Bijuts (talk) 13:03, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Sub Project Proposal
Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/Villages in Kerala
Hi, I wanted you to check this and see if a project like this is necessary. Now since Kerala is a project, obviously this would not be very welcome, but I think if we add sub projects and move up the ladder we could achieve something faster. Subin.a.mathew (talk) 14:54, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
- It is a good initiative to start a project for "Villages in Kerala". However, I doubt the prospectus of this project since the Kerala project itself is not active now.
- Unless there are some dedicated editors to build, maintain and nourish the project, it will be soon a dead horse. I couldn’t find any similar projects for villages.
- To start a new project, please identify the objectives first. Please list down what distinguishes this project from WP:Kerala. Once the direction is clearly defined, we can go ahead.
- As of now, we have around 2000 Kerala village articles. We need to identify the scope of improvement and categorize them according to stubs, mid class, etc. There is a long way to go.
Districts | Number of villages listed |
---|---|
Alappuzha | 129 |
Ernakulam | 148 |
Idukki | 73 |
Kannur | 140 |
Kasaragod | 116 |
Kottayam | 147 |
Kozhikode | 124 |
Malappuram | 147 |
Palakkad | 207 |
Pathanamthitta | 112 |
Thiruvananthapuram | 123 |
Thrissur | 226 |
Kollam | 137 |
Wayanad | 51 |
- Appreciate your good thoughts and efforts put in for this. Cheers, -- Aarem (Talk) 07:03, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the concern, I've been trying to find users who are interested. See for example i have started working on Thiruvanvandoor, Pandanad, Kallissery. All of them were orphan pages to begin with. Now i live near these places or am in the same locality. So i can add value. Thanks for the compilation of the list. It could help the project. We need to define some standard as not all villages of Kerala have fame in sense of history, the Chamba, Himachal Pradesh is a good article and have inspired me. -- Subin.a.mathew
- Good effort. The major set back for developing the village articles will be the lack of reliable references. I will also try to put some value addition. -- Aarem (Talk) 09:35, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
Seeking Clarification: Inclusion of KL 21 / 22 in City Page
Hi Aarem,
Just checking if KL 21 (Nedumangad) and KL 22 (Kazhakuttom) come under TRV City (Corp) limits? I am pretty sure Nedumangad does not come under Corp, but maybe a bit of Kazhakuttom? Please clarify, thanks - MountainWhiskey - talk 09:19, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

Keeping uniform references
Dear Aarem, I am not contesting your use of the city web site as reference on the Kochi page, but I seek your opinion on doing the same on Trivandrum page. Editor Samaleks has made a nasty comment and reverted my edit there. According to him, you are Elephant and I am Goat. No problem with that, as I gladly accept the comparison. I request you to attend to that please. Maybe Samaleks wouldn't mind the 'elephant' acting.
DileepKS(talk) 01:43, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
- It is good to hear that you have not responded to him in the same manner. Using such language is condemnable.
- The Trivandrum corporation page is in Malayalam, and is not appearing in my browser:screenshot. If you can cite an English version, we can change in the page. -- Aarem (Talk) 02:50, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
Here is the page in image form. [2]. I linked it at the article too, just in case.
English version is not available, but it is not necessary. Malayalam version is fine as reference.

User:Bijuts
Aarem,
You are very well aware about edit pattern of Bijuts (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). He keeps on pushing his Kochi love through out wiki. Please see his recent contributions and count how many reverts he has done and how many articles he edited and added Kochi in it? He was blocked THRICE for edit-warring, and still doing the same thing.
Also, User:DileepKS69, User:Mountainwhiskey, and User:Bijuts are Meat puppets. You can see their contributions and figure that out. DileepKS is blocked now for Sock puppetry. Mountainwhiskey is blocked for personal attacks. Bijuts is the only account open now. I can foresee new accounts coming in soon, to push their POV. As of now, the blocked users are using Bijuts to carry on what they left. If this continues, I will make submit a Sock report soon.
I did not understand how you also came to the conclusion that the number of tourists are more in Kochi. Please add Kovalam and then you will find that the tourists are more in Trivandrum. If you take district, Thiruvananthapuram is ranked number 1 in international tourists. Also, he is changing Kerala article, which is not related to this ranking. --Samaleks (talk) 05:49, 28 September 2011 (UTC).
Dear User:Samaleks,
Request you to study well before making any revert. See the reference http://www.keralatourism.org/destination-wise-foreign-2010.pdf. It shows Kovalam 108639 and TVM 43032. So total number is 151671. From the reference Fortkochi 65396 and Kochi city 116536. So total number is 181932. FYKI Fortkochi also in Kochi city limits. And also district wise Ernakulam district is in number 1 position. Ernakulam dist is 244924 and Thiruvananthapuram district is 204748 only. Clear???? --Bijuts (talk) 06:33, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
Reg: Best Cities Survey
Hi Aarem, I had added the best cities to reside in information into the lead and it seems to have been pushed down to the demographics by Samaleks. I had reverted the entire edits after BijuTS entered the Commercial Capital tag. What do you think - Should the best city info reside in the Lead (where it originally was) or in the Demo section? If the latter, we should move all such ratings down to Demo? Please opine. - MountainWhiskey - talk 11:17, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for taking this to the talk. I will check in detail to make my opinion. Cheers, -- Aarem (Talk) 11:42, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
- The research was published on 2007. It seems to be the copy of the CII report. Do you have the latest report? I checked the Indicus official site, but was unlucky. Cheers, -- Aarem (Talk) 11:17, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
- You are right, Aarem. That is an article from 2007! Never noticed that though. Remember seeing it pasted somewhere recently. But, does that disqualify it from being mentioned on Wiki. It is pretty recent, I reckon and all we need to do is rephrase the sentence to something like "In 2007, Kochi was rated...or something on those lines...Your inputs please? - MountainWhiskey - talk 08:33, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
