Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome!

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Shotcut, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.shotcut.org/bin/view/Shotcut/Features.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Shotcut requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.shotcut.org/bin/view/Shotcut/Features. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. --Finngall talk 17:35, 7 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest that you work on the article outside of the main article space--you can go to this page:
and recreate the article in your own user area by following the instructions there. There are also many helpful links there to pages which will guide you on how to create a good article. Aside from the copyright issue, the article seemed overly promotional, so remember to maintain a neutral point of view when providing information. But you'll also need to provide references to reliable sources that are independent of the subject to establish that this software is notable enough to merit an article here in the first place. Good luck! --Finngall talk 19:02, 7 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Just adding length?

[edit]

Hi.

I've noticed that on several instances in navboxes, you had changed "open-source" into "free and open-source" with no added benefit to justify the added length of increased group column size. I was thinking: Why? Especially, MOS:STABILITY says keep the style of the original contributor.

If a category is clearly wrong, then correcting it is okay. But is "open-source" wrong? Clearly, all "free and open-source" software are already "open-source". So, I think added length here adds no benefit. In fact, let them add non-free and open-source items to that list if something like that ever came into existence. Also please note that Wikipedia is also viewed on mobile devices with small screens on which the added length is a clear disadvantage.

Of course, I'd love to hear your take on the matter too, so please feel free to write back... actually, feel free to write.

Best regards,

Hi.
Sorry for the late reply. I am very sorry that you misunderstood me. But my intention was to clarify more. When I used Wikipedia I felt that the articles should be in detail (at the same time concise). So I replaced "Open-source" with "free and open-source" because it was not wrong but to remove ambiguity.
Before the edit I've checked all the programs if they were both free and open-source or only open source but not free (like RHEL ) and ensured that all of them are both free and open-source.
Think if it is written only "open-source" so the reader will understand that it is open-source but cannot get to know if the software is free or commercial. But if it is written "free and open-source" then the reader will get to know that it is both free and open-source as it is. After all it is intended to give the wikipedia reader a comprehensive information about the software without opening the software's page to know if it is free or not.
Hope you understand. Thanks in advance.
Waiting for your response.
Best regards,

Hi again. Accuracy is not the only goal; conciseness, comparison and contrast, and future expansion are important too, although since I've explained about it earlier, I won't be bothering you anymore. Good luck. Codename Lisa (talk) 00:13, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Template:Latest stable software release/Blender requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is an unused duplicate of another template, or a hard-coded instance of another template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is not actually the same as the other template noted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page explaining how this one is different so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{substituted}}</noinclude>).

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page's talk page, where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. —UY Scuti Talk 15:27, 13 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much. I think this will end the problem.
