Releasing copyright information[edit]

I see you wish to release copyright information to Wikipedia. Please read WP:COPYRIGHTS and WP:OTRS for information on how to do this. Please note that the gentleman may still not be considered notable. Please read WP:GNG.

Please do not, however, put messages into articles. Wikipedia is not a forum. Fiddle Faddle 21:21, 14 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

(edit conflict)Hi, Adrian! I'm cymru.lass. I noticed you created Adrian Finkelstein saying that "Adrian Finkelstein, MD gave permission to the writer of his Wikipedia, Mario Domina, to copy his own said website" and asking for the page to be undeleted. The problem is that we still can't use any text from your website because it's copyrighted. If you want us to be able to use it, you have to release the text to us under the Creative Commons Attribution-Sharealike 3.0 Unported License (CC-BY-SA) and the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL). If you want to do that, go over to Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials#Granting us permission to copy material already online and follow the instructions there. It should be noted that releasing the text to us under the CC-BY-SA and the GDFL means that people who find it on here will be able to change it and reuse it, even for commercial purposes. Cheers, — Preceding signed comment added by Cymru.lass (talkcontribs) 21:23, 14 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
To be scrupulously correct, we have no idea if you are the person who owns the website or the copyright, or if you simply have a similar username here. The release must come from that person. It does not get acted upon unless submitted in the correct manner. And the subject of the article must pass WP:GNG in order for an article to survive here. We are creating an encyclopaedia, not a directory. If he is notable and he is you it is better, usually, to wait for someone to write the article and to stand well back, simply asking for inaccuracies to be corrected. You are, of course, free to follow the above instructions on how to release copyright if you wish to. However, I think it only fair to tell you that, from my experience of similar cases on Wikipedia, I think that doing so would pretty well certainly be a waste of your time. Even if the copyright issue were settled, the article would be deleted again, for several reasons, including the fact that it was highly promotional. Wikipedia is not a medium for posting serlf-promotional material. JamesBWatson (talk) 21:33, 14 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
