I am emailing/ messaging regarding my editing on Leona Lewis' profile. I have changed the information regarding the Ivor Novello award, to the single, instead of stating Leona herself won. This was written after finding sources listing Leona Lewis A Moment Like This as the winner. It did not specify the writers name within the sources, only Leona Lewis. (The sources used were from the Ivors Offical page and the BBC, an article declaring the winners from 2007).

I apologise if I cited information incorrectly- I am new to Wikipedia, thus I am still learning how to use the editing processes.

Ok. I’ve struck my warning as it was perhaps too harsh. The Ivor Novello Awards are for songwriting and composing, and the Ivors Official Page that you cited at List of Ivor Novello Award winners does list all the songwriters for each nomination (under "A Moment Like This", it says "Written by: Jorgen Elofsson and John Reid"). The BBC source was just listing the songs that won (along with their performer), instead of every individual who actually won. Bennv3771 (talk) 01:22, 27 May 2019 (UTC)

Dear editor,

In regards to your comments- I declare that I stated explicitly that I had changed my editing to include that the single, A Moment Like This (2007), won an Ivor Novello award in 2007. This is factual information, and again was supported with reputable and robust citation from the Ivors archived page and the BBC. I did not state that Leona Lewis was the named winner of the award. I certainly did not continue to publish unfactual, disruptive information through editing processes.

As stated previously, I am new member to Wikipedia- I am simply trying to update and improve the Leona Lewis page. Therefore, I seek clarification as to why my last edit, which was truthful and cited, was deemed destruptive, and was consequently deleted on the Leona Lewis page? As the information was truthful and cited appropriately, I struggle to understand how this is deemed destruptive editing?

Any guidance to support my understanding of citation and editing would be appreciated to improve my performance and to eliminate such warnings/ comments in the future.

@Ajcutts1992: As my original warning stated, when your edits are reverted, Wikipedia expects editors to discuss and gain consensus instead of repeatedly re-inserting the disputed content. Edit warring is considered disruptive. Yes, in the most recent edit, you did re-word the content so it is factually accurate, and hence I have left it alone. But I do ask you to consider if highlighting an award that someone else won is really necessary in the lead of Leona Lewis' article. Per WP:LEAD, the lead of a Wikipedia article is meant to summarize the most significant contents of the article. I do not see why an award that someone else won is a significant enough aspect of Leona Lewis' life that it needs to be mentioned in the lead of her article. It comes across as puffery. We do not add download and streaming charts when a song already charted on the main chart of a country, as "Higher Love" did in the UK and US. Thanks. Ss112 04:43, 10 July 2019 (UTC)

Thank you for your message. I was not aware of this information. Thank you for sending the US charts information. Please could you send the information for the UK charts which states UK download should not be used if a song as charted on the official singles chart.

It's what WP:CHARTMATH talks about. WP:CHARTMATH just gives an example of the US charts—as downloads contribute to a song's placement on the overall UK Singles Chart, we do not include the UK Download unless the song did not chart on the UK Singles Chart.
